Elite: Dangerous also had a form of insurance. Insurance was 10% of your ships worth if I remember correctly. So you always had to make sure you have enough spare money to cover your ship in case of destruction. If your ship gets destroyed, you lose your ship and cargo; but with insurance you could atleast get your ship back (cargo is still lost).

If you don't have enough money to cover insurance, it is back to the starting/base ship in the game.

Yip that is true. Bit of a kak one considering if you got blown up with your cargo.

You loose the 100 000 cr's used to buy the dam cargo, then your left with 10 000 cr's with a transporter. Then you get killed in space or even better eskom strikes. Bam your grind fest of 2 months gone.

yeah I'm completely fine with that. but you don't buy ships in Elite with real world money...

Looks like they released yesterday's batch of 1000 discounted Starter Packages at 9AM PST, which was 7PM here. Missed it by 2 hours. Forum posts suggest they were all gone within 20 minutes. I'll try to check what time they release today's batch tonight if I can.

The screenshot that is completely ruining my gaming life. I just want it now!:-

I accidentally launched star citizen yesterday. Took AGES to load.

Wonder if it's got anything to do with the new AC2.0 release that's presently on the Test Universe servers? From what I remember the first thing the SC Launcher does is connect to their servers to check if there are any updates/patches to be installed. Maybe the servers were just too overloaded when you tried? (could be way off track here of course.)

I accidentally started my install yesterday mid morning (did an upgrade to a M50 and wanted to see it in my hangar) and the launcher updated itself, and then I was told that there's a newer version of the game available for me to download. I shut it down then because I want to wait for 2.0 to go to the live server before chewing through another 30Gb of bandwidth.
