Official Star Citizen Thread

So you've given up on a game that hasn't been released yet and instead chosen one that has been released yet but should still be in early access?

I think it's fair to say that given the latest Steam sales and paying ~R200 for a very good space sim (granted it "lacks in content"), that is a small price to pay for some very good space flying etc while waiting another 2 years at least for Star Citizen.

Still, Elite Dangerous is by no means a broken game. At least it's playable in it's current state, and good value for money given the special. It has brought a lot of new players by the looks of things.

Yeah I only encountered 1 broken bit and that was in the docking training. it runs super smooth, even on my system, and looks amazing

Yeah, it's a good price. I just find it a bit strange that he's giving up on a game that doesn't even have a release date yet :)

that's exactly why :p

it has had like 3 release dates already. At this stage I don't even think it will ever be released.

But I've been waiting and holding out for this and I'm tired of waiting. I need my space fix dammit!

if SC ever does get released, GREAT! then I will revisit it and see if it's worth spending my real world monies on (still don't like their pricing model)

What release dates would those be? The kickstarter one is a hopeless estimate that they could never have achieved, and it was probably based on them receiving just as much as they were looking for. But due to the price blow out it has obviously been blown to shreds. Have they committed to any other release dates? Not as far as I know of?

The game is by no means ready and I have no intention of playing it until S41 comes out or the PU.

Well S42's first chapter was supposed to release this year and SC supposedly next year...

But yeah. I'll throw money at it if and when it's finished. :D

It was my impression that those were never really concrete days, more like they were aiming for those, but it's not ready yet. I don't normally mind those.

If however they come out and announce with massive fanfare that it will be out 16 December, and then on 15 December they say, surprise it's delayed until 13 June, and then on 12 June they delay it again. That I don't handle well :)

Much like announcing no offline play? :p

:D

(sorry, salt in the wound, couldn't resist)

New Alpha 2.0 Gameplay trailer for Star Citizen shown at the Game Awards ceremony last night.

The "playable now" blurb at the end is a bit premature though - 2.0 access is still limited to the 65,000-odd tester group. Presumably they were hoping to have it on the live servers by now... still a pretty cool video though :)

Trailer looks cool.
Also, I read this on the RSI site now.
In addition, for the next week in celebration of the Game Awards 2015 and debut of the Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 trailer, we’ll be giving everyone with a registered account free access to three of our ships to play in Arena Commander.

Aurora MR
Mustang Alpha
Gladius

Got a friend that’s never tried Star Citizen? Now’s their chance to do so for free!

Does this mean anyone can create an account and play the game for a week?

EDIT: Confirmed, I didn't see the message at the very top of the site. Awesome. Will tell my friend to check it out.
