Music to our ears! Google Play Music Comes to South Africa
Tuesday, December 8, 2015
First, there were apps and games, then we had books. Now we have Music!
Starting today, Google Play Music will be available in South Africa! Google Play gives you an unlimited pass to a huge library of music on all your devices — from all the major record companies, as well as top local and independent labels.
Google Play Music lets you create an ad-free, interactive radio station from any song or artist you love. You can add, remove or re-order your station and see what’s coming next. Or you can browse recommendations from our expert music team and explore songs by genre. The “Listen Now” tab puts artists and radio stations we think you’ll like front and center so you can start listening the minute you open your library.
And when millions of songs just aren’t enough, Google Play Music lets you combine our collection with your own collection. You can store 50,000 songs for free online, and listen to them alongside the All Access catalogue on any Android device, or via the web at play.google.com. You can even “pin” specific albums and playlists songs so they’re available when you’re offline.
You can try it today and get an unlimited subscription account for an introductory price of R49,99 a month .
With today’s launch, Google Play moves one step closer to becoming your ultimate digital entertainment destination, where you can find, enjoy and share your favourite apps, games, books, movies, magazines and music on your Android phone or tablet.
Start discovering a whole new world of music today!

Family plans for Google music has also officially been announced this week, I wonder if it'll bleed over to our neck of the woods soon.

Oh awesome! I've been trying out Apple Music, and I wanted to try Play Music last week, but it wasn't available in SA.

Noticed this yesterday and the prices are great, I also like the web based interface bought myself a deadlock album with 16 tracks for R40. Note if you have problems witht he interface check your AV and add an exception for play.google.com :D

You're a legend! I've been having trouble getting the Get Started button to work, until I did this and disabled ghostery for the page. Now I'm in!

I use Simfy that I get for free. Google Play Music is just so much better. I emailed Simfy to let them know that they must up their game and they actually phoned me and I promised to send them a list of things that they can improve upon. Just feel so tired that I don't know when I'll get the strength to do that.

They can start by improving the mobile app - it's so sluggish and bugs out a lot of the time.

I haven't even tried their mobile app. Have just used their website and the searching doesn't work properly and if I pause a song and go make coffee, the player forgets where I was and I have to listen to the album from the start. All kinds of stuff like that.
