If E: D and NMS have surface-space seamless transitions anywhere near as good as these are looking, space game fans are in for some happy gaming hours.
 
So lemme get this right...

  • For all people who backed the game, they have access to it right now, in its "functional" state?
  • The have price models on their site. If someone were to purchase now, would this too give them immediate access to play or will they only have access upon release?

To answer your question, Yes, you will have access to the "functional" state. Check if the package that you are interested in is not a ship only package. look for something that includes atleast Star Citizen Digital Download. I think that should be enough to get you access to the game.

Nothing to do with SC if that's why you asking.
I don't know, think it was just it's time. I bought it second hand, and when I bought it the thing got crazy hot in games. Replaced thermal paste and it was all better. Until now that is.
 
That sucks. Same with my cuz. He is hunting on Carbonite now.

SC graphics are pretty amazing though. My GTX 970 takes strain. Wish I had a 980 Ti.
 
Hey peeps, anyone want to take a stab at convincing me to buy a starter package? I want to know whether gameplay is fair for us South Africans and our massive ping? Also, will this game become as massive and legacy based as WoW or Eve, so the earlier you start the better your gameplay experience will be?

The only real reason for buying it sooner is if you get it for a better price and to get a head start on some of the mechanics, although the mechanics may change so much that you might be better off waiting for the final version. Everything else points to wait before you buy.

I was interested in it a little while ago actually. As I've been spending an awful lot of time in Elite Dangerous and will be getting a HOTAS system as well. After watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading a lot on /r/starcitizen I have decided against it. At least in it's current state I don't believe it's worth it. It also just looks a little too arcade like for me and seems to lack character.


But that's just my 2c from a non owner.
