Second hand Wii advice

Trying to decided whether to buy a Wii console new or second hand, mainly to save a bit of money. I don't know much about the Wii. Is it a good idea to buy second had and if so Any specific things to look out for/be wary of if I decide to?

Why a wii?

Borrowed FIL's and had that running between playing ps3. The WII got around an hours play time in the week it was there then it was forgotten about. Seriously crappy graphics and not all that much fun to control. The cursor thingy on the main menu made me feel as if I had cerebral palsy.

I have a Wii that I could be persuaded to part with if you want a second hand one, along with a Wii Fit balance board and a few games, just have to figure out where I've packed it away... Unless I have already given it to someone, which is possible.

If you really want a Wii though, why not the Wii-U?

I have been looking at getting a Wii myself. Motion controls are awesome when you get the hang of it, I have a friend who is pretty good at some fps games and it looks super fun. When I try I just spin around shooting at the ceiling :D

The Wii also has almost limitless emulation potential and with the wiimote held horizontally it feels exactly like the old console remotes!

On a side note the Wii has Super Mario Galaxy, widely heralded as the greatest game of the previous generation if not ever made. Google it.

the best wii's to get are the 1st generation wii, the newer revisions are utter crap, you can pick up a 1st gen wii in the region of R400 at cash crusaders these days, 1st gen ones are the best simply because theyre backward compat with gamecube titles thus you can play gamecube games on there and you can play most wii games (pending support) with gamecube controllers. ie. tatsunoku vs capcom, super smash bros etc.

Good question, I have two young boys and the one wants to play using the rifle that works with the hunting games.

I'll just leave this here

I'm interested if you still have it, would rather buy second hand from someone I can trust.

Cool, let me see if I can dig it up and I'll also see what games I still have. If I'm flogging it off, might as well make it a bundle deal. I should have a copy of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports (first version), Wii Fit (with the balance board/scale thing), maybe Red Steel (but I might have lent that out permanently). I did play Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, but I think I borrowed those from someone.

Must also make sure that the wife doesn't feel the urge to use it for Wii Fit again for some reason, but we haven't used it in ages, so I wouldn't think she would.

Do you stay in Joburg?

I wouldn't trust matt, he can't even keep track of his Wii. :p

LOL, it should be in a box in the garage. Had to pack away lots of stuff when the kid started getting mobile. Moved the whole wall unit in there because he was bashing on the glass doors.

Yep in North Riding.

Oh cool, that's close by. Straight shot down Witkoppen. I'm in Strubens Valley.

Oh ya, I have 2 remotes and 2 nunchucks with it. It's just the original remotes though, I don't have those extra motion plus bits. I think they might have thrown those in with the second generation of Wii's.

Cool, see what all you have, let me have a price.

Hey dude, had a chat with the wife and she reckons we should hang on to it for when out kid is a bit older, which is a fair point really, he's to small now, but it probably won't be too long till he can play with it. We haven't used it for a couple of years, so I had thought I might as well sell it

So, sorry man, won't be parting with it after all, there seem to be a lot if them for sale though at least.

No problem, totally understand - thanks for at least considering it.

I just received a new Super Mario Maker Premium Pack from my insurance as a replacement. What can I sell it for if I don't open it? How much will the price drop if I do?
