There's science to a really great cup of coffee

Most important thing when making instant coffee is to not let the kettle boil. Switch it off as soon as the water starts boiling.

Another trick, don't fill the cup! I swear by this and people always bitch they getting "half a cup", but they won't deny it was a good cuppa.

this! i wish people would understand this! boiling water burns the coffee!

You people are all wrong. It all has to do with milk coffee ratios. I boil the water 5 times. And none of that half cup bullshit like beo says. Thats a cop out. Milk first, dissolve coffee in that, then sugar and then slowly add water while stirring.

Sies!

I concur. Only a fool would add the milk first.

2 Coffee, 3 - 4 sugar and 2 tots of milk are the perfect ratio's for the best cup of instant coffee. Start boiling the kettle, switch it off as soon as water starts boiling (perfect temp for coffee is 90 degrees) fill the cup about 2 thirds of the way and add milk (or a bit of cold water if you like it black). The real secret is in the stirring technique; it's all in the wrist.

ITT: People who think there's a right and wrong way to drink instant coffee. You're all wrong. Instant coffee is only for a quick caffeine fix, so it doesn't matter how you do it.

If you want a good cup of coffee, use a french press. That's when you use not quite boiled water. Using boiled water for instant coffee doesn't matter. Its instant. It is already crap. Even the 'good' stuff, which I always have on hand... For a quick caffeine fix...

yeah, but you can make a good cup of instant coffee and some people can make a shit cup of the same coffee. It's all in the methods.

Though I agree with the french press. That's what I use at work and have to buy it myself as they supply Ricoffee, which is just yuk!

its what we get here at work as well and boy its kak....our tea lady makes it different everytime and it never tastes good. she is so bad at making coffee

This is true. I make my instant coffee so its at least tasty. I've had people make me a cup using the same stuff, and they get it all wrong. Heck, I don't even measure my instant coffee. I just eyeball it as I shake it out of the container.

The way I see it, its either licking a dirty ballsack, or a clean one... (except that while I do drink instant coffee, I do not lick ballsacks.)

You know, I decided to look it up, the whole milk thing. Not whole milk, like 2% vs whole/full... I mean this debate. I remembered a Sergeant Frog episode where they argued it with regards to tea... So I started to search on Google for the episode. I ended up finding an article https://www.theguardian.com/science/brain-flapping/2014/oct/03/how-to-make-tea-science-milk-first

I was almost ready to post it as fact, ignoring the fact it is on the Guardian... Then I read the first paragraph... "Tea is better than coffee. Let’s just get that out of the way before we start".

So there you have it. The Guardian is officially the most unreliable news source on the internet.
