So I am pretty new to this community but was wondering if you guys could give me suggestions on some good monitors that aren't more than R3000. I am looking for a 1920x1080p one that is a decent pc monitor :) :)

EDIT: Changed the phrasing of what I wanted as it was causing confusion

Gaming monitors are anything from 120hz and upward, You won't find anything for R3000 or less unless it's a 2nd hand model and a guy trying to sell his for very cheap.

Otherwise any monitor will do, size does not matter!

Yeah... realised I phrased that poorly. Really all I am looking for is a monitor that is 1920x1080 and that is 60 Hz between that price range but that would still have good colour and around 5ms response time for games.

Try get what I got which is the Samsung SA950. Amazing monitor and very sought after on the second hand market and you can pick them up for that price bracket on carbonite.co.za

Personally, I've been eyeing this monitor.

I haven't done any homework on it yet, so I have no idea if it is any good for gaming and it is slightly out of your budget range, chirpcricket, but there is just something about the ultrawides that really appeal to me.

Had one don't do it, too small and the resolution is not worth the hassle Dota 2 for instance doesn't support it at all so you are constantly getting fixes and work arounds.

Bought the Samsung S24E390H from rebeltech last week R3246 excellent screen

Thanks for the heads-up.

The cheapest Gaming BenQ screen is going for R4500 at the moment. 144hz screens are expensive. What do you plan on playing though?
If you do not mind second hand, there is a very nice local forum for trading. buying ans selling electronics. carbonite.co.za

I'm gonna step on some toes here...

Ultra wide monitors are utter shit for gaming!! The End!!
This even goes for the 29"/35" ultra wide monitors.

I have a Dell 29" ultra wide, gathering dust at my place because I can't stand using it.

Agreed 100%

I see there's a monitor on special at Takealot. Don't know how good it is and it's R500 more than what you were willing to pay but you may want to have a look.

If you can look past the shoddy build quality and the fact that is only has a VGA and HDMI port, it is a good screen. The panel itself is fantastic with great colour and brightness.

I also saw the screen and had a look at some reviews. They agree that the panel itself is fantastic, but the stand's build quality is not that good and the limited Video ports can be a problem. One DVI or Display Port would have been great.

I don't need anything to hectic as I don't play anything too competitive and mainly just play story driven/strategy games... So really good picture and 60hz is what I am looking for. I will definitely check out carbonite.co.za Thanks!

I would then rather say you want a Decent PC screen, and not specifically for gaming. PC Gaming screens are all 120-144hz screen in general. Almost all normal PC screens should be able to get 60hz, or at least 50hz
