Gamma Nine - My debut novel - Cover concept and info.

Spartan - this is fantastic bud, wish you all the best and a great success. I like the changes made to the cover art, much better in my opinion.

I have to agree with Beotek - the new cover is stunning and its very eye catching. I hope that we get to see the book on the shelves someday soon :D I would love to own a hardcopy as well

Very nice! Well done. This is surely an accomplishment.

How long did it take to write?

I am busy with a screenplay and hope to enter next years competition. Well that is what I say every year and I never finish on time. It is much harder to write than I have imagined.

Thank you very much man. Writing time, with all of the real life things infringing on my work like illness, laziness and sometimes just taking breaks for days, it took me 11 months start to finish. Add one 3 months of editing, tweaking, formatting, marketing and heaps of tiredness.

But with that said, the first project is always the hardest. You learn as you go a long. With the second novel all of the ground work will already be done and I can just write and publish. Editing and artwork will be easier as well.

The idea itself though, that is another story. The idea for this, and other novels I plan on writing, have been in my head since I can remember. Since the first time I watched Robotech or read the Dark Tower series, anything that inspired my imagination to run wild.

Good luck. I can only imagine how hard it is to write a screenplay. Let me know if you need help with indie publishing. Just PM me with any questions. I would be happy to help whenever I am not pouring over my laptop or passed out on the couch.

Wooooooooooooooooo hooooooooooooooo its been preordered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for your support! Can't wait until you notice the happy coincidence with something you are involved in. A name I have had on my mind since I watched Bravestar and all those comics. Long before I ever joined this forum. And as luck would have it, the name I picked for something in the novel is something you see almost every day.

Thank you for the compliment. I hope that Science Fiction/ Action / Light Horror fans will at least enjoy the first one in the series.

Take a look at the final cover. It looks much better. https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/ebook/gamma-nine

You will be able to change the format with Calibre - that is what I am going to do :D

I was thinking I might have to do that, although that would probably involve removing DRM. Hopefully Spartan won't mind too much

Nice one Spartan

I don't suppose I can read any of those formats on a Kindle?

Maybe I will have to get the Kobo version and read it on the tablet...

There will be a Kindle edition soon after the first of April. I mention it in one of my first replies today. It is a different platform so it might take a little extra time after the 1st of April to get it on Kindle, but I will be adding it as soon as I can. My hope is to get it on both distributors one same day release. I will make a new thread with all of the info as soon as I have everything in place. And thank you for your comment. I am humbled by everyone's words.

Since I know its just for myself and I wont be sharing the file, I hope Spartan will understand us doing that.

Most stores have the formats covered from mobi to epub to pdf. There will be an Amazon release as soon as it is ready. The distributor itself self the novel in all formats DRM free once the release date passes. Will link everyone to it.

Print editions are planned for later this year with a print on demand service. They might be a little more expensive than the e-book versions but I too want a hard copy to put on my bookshelf.

Awesome sauce will definitely be pre ordering soon

Thank you :D

Smashwords sells DRM free versions from the 1st of April. So all the bases will be covered if the Kindle release takes too long.

Ok, I have pre-ordered!

Now we wait

Awesome. Thank you. Like I said if you for some reason have an issue, just let me know and I can send you a DRM free copy if all else fails. Readers and fans are more important to me than just making money. The royalties are just a bonus but I am not doing it for the greed. I want to share my stories. I plan on releasing free short stories attached to the main universe as time goes on in between novels to keep fans connected and involved.

DRM is the last of my worries. The more people that read it the better. Word of mouth is the best marketing one can ask for. Like I said to matt, DRM free versions will be available from the distributors store should there be issues with other platforms and from myself if all else fails.

I can also generate coupons for free purchases from the distributor's store should you pre-order it and something goes wrong. Can't have anyone buying the thing twice.

Glad to hear it. Remember to recommend it to others if you enjoy it. I hope it does not disappoint. Just remember this is the first in a long series, so there is a lot of setups and world building, especially in the prologue. Something I feel a good Science Fiction novel needs instead of jumping in willy nilly without having any history on what happened or why things are as buggered as they are now.

Yeah, that's the biggest (and probably only) reason I won't be buying it. Not that I don't support you, but I don't do digital reading. Just don't like it.

Otherwise I'll buy it to support you, but I'll probably then never read it.

I was like that back in the day. Until I bought one of the Kobo readers. It is basically just a really flat digital book and works pretty well. Battery life on a full charge reading a few hours a day lasts more than a month sometimes.

But of course everyone does things their own way. Maybe if the reception is positive you might take a chance, if not then I will send you a signed copy with a dickbutt on it when the print versions come out. Who knows, anything is possible :P

May I request the link to this mythical group of potential fans? Just to I can see what people say and/or talk to some potential readers/fans. If you do not mind.

Please don't "read" (see what I did there) too much into it, it's just my opinion. I like the feeling of paper on my fingers and turning pages. I do enough reading on PC screen, I don't need it on a cell phone, tablet or eReader.

No offense taken in any way dude. The old school readers I will cater for eventually as well. It just takes time because I am doing it all on my own. So print versions are on the list of upcoming things for my series, it jsut takes longer and is more work, which needs to be planned for perfectly and fit into my schedule.

When you have a signed hard copy let me know ;)

Thank you. Unfortunately Google Play books only allows books with a price tag of free to be uploaded from any territory. Things like novels need to be in countries they can wire royalties to directly and RSA is not one of them. But you can purchase it from most of the stores in most of the popular formats. Smashwords - the distributor - sells in all formats as soon as the book releases on their own store.

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/613128

I will create a new topic when the novel releases with all the info and different links. Worst case scenario you can just ask me for a copy in the format you want if everything else fails.

Ah oky, but if I can get the epub on Smashwords that is cool, I can manually upload it to Play Books. :)
Will the book be available for pre-order on Smashwords, or will I just have to wait for release?

I have several friends who like SciFi/Fantasy books, so I will definitely recommend it to them.

I see one of your other posts mentioned it. This is the first book of a series, not a standalone novel? How many books in the series are you planning?

Thanks, I guess I jumped the gun not waiting for the Amazon release. Rest assured though, I won't be distributing copies or anything, I just prefer my Kindle to my tablet for reading.
