What do you do on your birthday?

A lot of people have standing traditions of what they like to do on their birthdays. My one mate used to go to the movie alone every year, until he realised how sad that was.

That's not sad at all, going to the movies alone is the best. You can go see what you want when you want obligation free and no fear of being peer pressured into going seeing another piece of shit Adam Sandler movie.

But Blended was hilarious!

no but he would go watch movies we all wanted to see as well

I realize I've spent another year achieving nothing, then around noon the existential crisis kicks in followed closely by an anxiety attack. I then lock myself in the bathroom crying hysterically while people outside try to reason with me, I completely ignore them of course, and continue wailing like a women who lost an only child. All the crying and hyperventilating is really tiring so I fall asleep sometime after, then I wake up the next day and continue with life:D

Celebrate my birthday in the same way I entered this world.... Naked and screaming

I'm gonna steal that one!

Also do nothing. We have a family "tradition" where family friends come over for drinks/snacks whenever its someones birthday, but other than that...its another day :)

EDIT: I HAVE started the trend now of taking leave on my bday hehehe :)

I see a trend here. I also like the nothing route, just some cake or a special meal from the wife perhaps.

We live so far away from all our family and friends, and the friends we made in the "new" town all moved away recently (go figure), so we don't have anyone over for snacks or anything.

i also like doing nothing. but the fiance and i do go out for a nice quiet dinner by ourselves.

At work we have people saying "Happy Birthday! Where's the cake"
Cause some person decided that the birthday person supplying cake to everyone is a great birthday gift.
ja that's a thing here at my work as well...and then ppl have the gol to say but im on a diet(or im banting) why are you buying cake i cant have cake or my personal favourite oh i dont like salted chocolate cake you should have just bought plain chocolate...

I seem to have the same problem everywhere I work

I wake up, we then generally do presents, everyone usually gets a gift too, not just me cause I'm generous like that, then the whole family arrives for a big lunch and we all wear tiny crown hats and pull crackers. Bony M is usually playing in the background, a lot of people around the world seem to celebrate on my birthday. If I'm lucky someone will say happy birthday without mentioning how crappy it must be to be born on Christmas.

Luckily my birthday falls on a public holiday so I usually just stay home and chill with lots of snacks. Sometimes I'll even take the days around my birthday off as well and have a nice break.

My birth always goes by uneventful. Maybe go for lunch or supper. Maybe have a few beers but no tradition

It was all good till one of the women in admin put up a birthday list...
Same thing every year since.

"where's the cake?"

"in the fridge at home where my family can enjoy it later"...

I usually have my family coming over for a drink or two. Nothing special really, but if my wife had her way we will have a huge party each year.

One of the teams (within earshot of my desk) sings "Happy Birthday" or "Geluk liewe maaitjie" to colleagues. We sit there and cringe...imagine singing that to 40 or 50 year olds! People are such morons.
