Yeah... I was actually considering cancelling my pre-order the past few days and getting Hitman instead. Played a short 20-30 min session during lunch break and I'm glad I've kept it.

The graphics has had an overhaul, that's the first big adjustment you'll notice. I also spent about 15min adjusting my controls and this will change per person.


PS: Remember, if you get a black screen on start up, just ALT+Enter to go to windowed mode until you can set your desired resolution.

Immediately I noticed it just felt a bit smoother (despite being a little choppy frame rate) and kust looking better overall. The atmosphere, the mist, the look overall.

My takeaways are set the following for minimal visual impact but major performance gain (at least on higher end cards):

Contact Shadows: Sun Low (compare)
Depth of Field: Medium (compare)
Local Reflection Quality: High (compare)
Particle Detail: High (compare)
Shadows: High (compare)
Volumetric Fog: High/Medium (compare)

Everything else is up to your hardware.

Thanks, I'll try it out tonight.

Got an i5 4970 (I thinks) and GTX970 HoF and 16gb RAM.

I'm pretty happy with performance thus far. I'm not really one to get antsy about that kinda stuff. As long as it looks as good as it can and still be playable, I'm happy. Though I do notice when the framerate tanks into the 40's or 30's.

Great game to play with friends, as long as you are close to the same level (+/- 4).

The lighting in the different environments are top notch.
 
..and i caved i need something mmo-y for some stress relief. Gonna play this on xbox one though, my pc not up to scratch.

I have not played in the betas, and now that I am playing I'm totally blown away by the game.

Two quick questions -

1. How do I add friends to the game (you guys!) and
2. I bought the game through takealot, (pre-order) but dont have the hazmat suit, and it is also not at the rewards vendor, i checked too see in my CD box if there is an extra key somewhere but alas, cannot see anything like that. What do I do?

It's weird, I don't seem to have downloaded the update at all. Don't know if Steam downloaded it somehow or what.

Anyway, the game is okay-ish. I think it's best played in a group. Just went to the DZ but everything there is pretty high level so will come back later. I'm just pissed that the Gold Edition was R900, but the season pass on it's own is R600, pushing the price of the game and all content up to R1200. From R300 - R600 is a massive jump for the season pass.

I enjoyed the game when I played the open beta, so hopefully I continue enjoying it now :)

Hmm yeah that does suck. I only have the base game, luckily I bought it for R400. Will see if I end up getting the season pass or not.
 
I got none of the gold pre-order or season pass stuff in my vendor in base ;-(

It seems I am not the only one though and that they are working on a fix.
 
I went to BT games to go buy it because I thought the price was R610. Apparently if you don't pre order the price goes up to R700 so bought it on steam but that download is big. Hope to see you guys tomorrow.

you would have gotten an e-mail from takealot with the code for the hazmat suit.
 
Got up to level 5 while working on the story missions. Some of those encounters would be much easier in a group.
 
Meh

I've crashed twice so far (played about an hour). For some reason the game also randomly turns my keyboard back-lighting on and off, which is kind of annoying.

I just got past the tutorial part now. Would have liked to be able to spend some more time in the game, but it is sleeping time.
