Mmmm so $400 + $60 for the PS4 Camera which is required. So nearly $500 and the visuals will be no where near as good or smooth as the Vive or the Oculus.
Sony saving vr from the toilet well done. Now the saving begins looks at games releasing.Maybe next year.
Saving it from the toilet?
That makes no sense at all, both the Oculus and Vive sold out within a few minutes after the pre orders went live.
Although the PSVR will be cheaper it still comes in at $460 which is around R7300 while having a smaller field of view and lower resolution. On top of that the PS4 is severely under powered when compared to the recommended pc rigs for the Vive and Oculus.
There is no doubt it'll sell well, and it definitely has a place in the market though.
doesn't that put it in about the same price bracket as the Oculus?
And surely with that "downgrade" in quality as you say, it should come in at a lower prices compared to superior products?
Today PlayStation VR was made available for pre-order on European Amazon stores including Uk, Germany and France, but it wasn’t up there for long.
The headset remained available only a couple of minutes, before going sold out, with no mention on when it’ll be available again. Only Italy is lagging a bit behind, and there the headset is still available at the moment of this writing, even if we don’t know for how long.
It surely seems to be a strong start for Sony’s virtual reality headset, probably propelled by the PS4’s installed base, and by the price, which is the lowest among the major virtual reality headsets.

Well the 460 includes the purchase of the PS camera, which you need to use the PSVR apparently... The PS unit is retailing at $399 and the Occulus is retailing at $599 if memory serves me correctly... So $200 is quite a chunk...
Also the PS4 wont be powering the PSVR, its coming with a separate GPU to give the necessary "upgrade" the console needs to power the VR...
While everyone can agree the Occulus and the Vive are statistically better units, i dont think the PS unit will be bad by any means...
Wow, this is surprising...

Well Sony is in the best position to capture the mainstream market as the other devices require substantial financial outlay.I think Sony will sell in a week what the other devices sell in a year.
Very interesting, didn't know about the separate gpu in the psvr.
Maybe it's a little bit early to call then although even Sony admitted the PSVR won't match the Vive and Rift in visuals.
I think the Vive has set the VR benchmark at the moment. In performance and price....
