hmmm, so my mate wasnt lying when he said that over 50% of AoC's servers were taken down last month. Sad to see really, but this leaves gaps for MMmomprogpgrgrs like Stargate Worlds and SW: The old Republic to take the reins.

I'm opting for free-play ones now - maybe even carry on with my guild wars characters for a bit.

And a hell of a lot of saved cap :D
some people (in the beginning of aoc) had to download the whole client again because of a bug that occurred during update- instead of it just being 900ms or in worse case scenario a never ending updating loop.

omg... 28gigs?
WTF, do you have all the server data on your pc ?!?!
who knows, maybe even maps to come

...the bell is tolling for conan, i will actually be bit surprised if it makes a 12 month or more active stay and not join both tabula and hellgate in the grave...

I miss WoW :(

Conan was a real stinker though, geez.

Weak leveling system, buggy unresponsive interface, system whore, crap items...

Conan was simply released too early. They had a due date and sadly they had to keep it. If conan waited then every mmo-fanboi would be happy now.

i dont. heh after 3 years a break is nice thank you :). nothing wrong with the leveling its not WTF how fast i can level up game- atleast its not in the range of dungeons and dragons line where for each level you first have to do 5 stages to get it; in short 1 level is actually 5 levels- level 5 == 15 levels . one of the reasons why i stopped with ddo, just because it took very long to level up and not too well populated for the those who started out....

as was hellgate- you must realise its the norm to release now and fix later. long gone are those days where its out its out and it a working, optimized and well done peace of code.

The first sign was when they made the boobs smaller. That was it!
That was the end.
lol

never played AoC myself, but my friend played quite a bit.

i was appalled by the interface, and also the animation. like when he would bend to harvest cotton, his cloak looks like a PLANK on his back. i swear if he used his cloak as a weapon he would have gotten more kills

lol... i can concur with the cloak thing :D:D

Almost sounds like my early levels of wow where my strongest weapon was my fishing rod :/

It's kind of irritating when obvious glitches just get ignored by DEV's to make the cut off time.

it is all about polish. if you have the strength of blizzard you are able to nip/tuck/polish your game to a bright sheen until the whole thing is so smooth that you don't realize you are playing a game.

i feel very sorry for funcom though :( i had high hopes for them at least denting the WoW subscriptions

ArenaNet managed that with Guild Wars too. That was probably one of the best MMO launches to date.

Indeed if I look at Guild Wars back then and now they made massive improvement to the "core system".
Way back then you couldn't figure out if target was bleeding, poisened or had deep wounds on them. Just a lot of small improvements making a big difference each time.
Only thing the could never do was nerf properly. They always ended up breaking up fun builds.
RIP boa

Those improvements were nice, but PvP back then was more fun. The current FoTM builds suck.

I kinda feel like playing AOC again though, but I can just not get myself to update the game. Diffenately not a cap friendly game...

rofl- tell me about it; one patch they said it might be large for some used and i thinked yay wtf and it were just 1.5 gig vir me

sure its not perfect, but i like it, its definitly not just the same old fantasy mixed with magic as most mmo's out there are just rehasing each other.

i guess if you like the whole barbarian, 'vicking', tribalism and so forth you would be more likely to play it...
