Erratic behaviour by Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 touchscreen

Greetings

Since this past weekend, I have barely been able to use my Samsung P3110. If I may resort to anthropomorphic terms, the touch screen vacillates between not responding to my input and hperactivity: it opens apps on its own without my finger being even close to the screen.

Do you think that this is a hardware fault, or is it something a hard reset might resolve?

Thanks.

First thing you can try is to clean the screen nicely, I've found sometimes my kid will leave a sticky fingerprint on my tab, which you can't even see, but it drives the touch screen insane. I clean it with a wet wipe and wipe it dry on my t-shirt or whatever, and it works nicely again.

Try what Matt said.
If that does not work, back it up with smartswitch and if you need anything off it or have to do anything on it use SideSync to control it from a pc.

Once done, try a factory reset and if that does not fix it, time for repairs. At least the factory reset will clear your stuff off the tablet.

I cleaned the screen again last night [I have done so once or twice since removing the screen protector, which was looking the worse for wear.] I am still finding that, in Marvel Unlimited for example, pages will not turn and then pages will flick back and forth or jump between various panel in Guided View. I see similar behaviour when I try to unlock the tablet. The problem is not as bad as it was now, so cleaning the screen again has at least rendered the tablet more usable. :)

I might try the factory reset this evening. What, typically, is the cost for repairs to a tablet?

Thank you

Digitizer by the sounds of things so if you buy digitizer kit off Ebay, about R200, if you send it to local guys, R1200 to R2400

Suggestion:

Get one of those drawing/doodle apps and open it. If the screen has "phantom inputs" it will draw you a picture. You might be able to determine the area of the screen that is acting up.

Be scared if it looks like this though :p
