Just installed the H110M-DGS/D3, only comes with onboard DVI, only works DVI to DVI, i tried a VGA to DVI converter and no luck anyone else experienced this as well? if so why though?

Well since the MB does not have a VGA it won't fit. Do you mean DVI to VGA converter?
This should work no problem unless you have a faulty one.

i have 2 new ones but its dvi-d and according to the user, ponder, on mybb its only digital and wont transmit to analog but why would they make it then??

Okay read up on it a bit more your GPU can handle the conversion that is why they are made. Some onboard gpu seems to not be able to convert the digital signal into an analog signal.

Teh confusion is strong in this thread.

There are 3 types of DVI.
A, I and D

Only I and A types can be converted with an adaptor. You motherboard is DVI-D so unless you get an active converter it won't work. i.e. You need a device that can process the signal...taking digital and making an analog one out of it.

Lol indeed but he is using a D type since thats the only one that mb can take. I presume...

Don't think we're on the same page here...

OP needs to throw out the passive converters he has and go buy an active one. Thats literally the only way of making this work.

Or throw out the screen and get one that supports DVI (or HDMI + passive converter).

As an analogy its like the US power grid runs on a different voltage than the SA one. Its not a question of making the powerplugs "fit" with a travel adaptor...you need to tackle both problems...different voltage and different plugs. Similarly SA & UK run on the same voltage so there you just need to solve the different plugs issue.

Strange since I have used them with my GPU before to my LCD screen and had no problems with picture.

To add to what HavocXphere said: you get different types of DVI connectors with different pin-outs.

Info copied form https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface#Connector

DVI-I (integrated, combines digital and analog in the same connector; digital may be single or dual link)
DVI-D (digital only, single link or dual link)
DVI-A (analog only)

To easily identify the connector, look for the 4 pins/holes around the flat one on the side. No 4 pins = digital only

Yeah, I also got hit with this. Your normal cheap adaptors either don't fit because wrong type, or just won't work properly as they are passive. Luckily I had a cheap GPU spare so just added that to the build, giving me DVI-I, HDMI and VGA options. I got the board on special at my supplier, R400 cheaper than any other socket 1151 motherboard. Think this may be the reason they were selling them on special...
