But the PS3 fat was better... it was not only a gaming console, but doubled as a door stop!

the ps3 slim was actually a very impressive console, fairly reliable looked good, never liked the super slim though.

Sony is playing with fire imo cause they risk alienating alot of current ps4 users and what is to stop a dev from developing a title with the neo only in mind and gimping the vanilla ps4 version, since they're just making it compatible for the sake of it then it ends up looking like blops 3 looked on the ps3/360.

They need a slim xbone, i hate the big bulky block in my living room :( my ps4 looks so nice and sleek

Funny enough, my PS4 is behind my TV while my Xbone is visible. :p
I quite fancy the look of it, maybe a little more than the PS4 to be honest.

Yeah, I still got my super slim. It's basically a glorified bluray player though.

Probably not, I like how Sony is forcing studios to make the game compatible on both systems. As to no divide the player base, but it's just too much for me to pay for another console to get 60fps. I am happy with what I have.

The PlayStation will become like Call of Duty. You'll have to buy a new one every year. :p

I think its actually heading to no console, or just a reciever, and all streaming the games right to your TV...

That bitch was PHAT!

I do have to agree with you... They have said to devs that games must run on both systems, but in all honesty this makes little to no sense... Either embrace the "new standard" or whats the point of doing it at all?

Switching to support the New PS4k exclusively, would be the quickest way to lose a good chunk of their 35 million users base, or alienate new users from Sony.

I would buy it over the original, if I'd have the money for it, but only when its price comes down.

The original console's price didn't take very long to decrease either -- or maynbe I'm remembering wrong.

I think the NEO will be the push I need to buy a PS4 and Bloodborne

This is also interesting though, Bloodborne already runs near flawlessly on the PS4, will older games receive patches to run better on the Neo?

I don't care much for the NEO's marketing about playing at 4k. I don't own any 4k screens.

I'm also happy with playing console games at 30 fps. Usually play console games for fun anyway. But with the NEO and it's hardware spec, we can get people like Naughty Dog bringing out the absolute best, and that's why I'll be buying it.

Maybe. My PC is getting older and have to upgrade later this year, or buy a PS4. Mid range PC components is also much more expensive than a console. Decisions, decisions, we will have to see...

We played different Bloodborne games then :P
I'm used to high fps so I guess I won't eat you alive lol

Honestly if they do end up releasing this and Microsoft counters I reckon Microsoft can do a better job, and seeing as Microsoft is in a much better financial position than Sony they could maybe offer a trade in deal for the old Xone.

I would upgrade later on, not day 1/month 1. I understand why some are upset about this, but tech is advancing at such a rapid rate it kinda makes sense.

Also, some/most of us spend more upgrading our cellphones each year/2nd year, so don't think cost is too much of an issue?

ha ha, ok i hear what you saying, forgot you playing on a moose PC...
I wonder why microsoft didnt release a console that was at least on par with the PS4 at launch... Its pretty common knowledge that the PS4 outperforms the X-1, so im not so sure that Microsoft can do that much of a better job, especially without alienating their user base...

What i dont get, if they are doing this now, why not make the PS4 and X-1 "upgrade-able" to a certain extent... I mean its 3 major components, and they cant be that hard to change out? Can they?

Was also thinking modular. Maybe a few modular upgrades (probably gpu/cpu/ram), like v1.1,v1.2 etc. Next revision is then v2 (ps5 in this case). Maybe adding a bit more to the development side of things having to give options to render the game at whatever version you have, but they already do it for PC to some extent, so don't think it is too much of a hassle?

Edit : regarding changing the current setup, that would be difficult. CPU/GPU and RAM is all on one motherboard. Console will have to be modular in some way to enable upgrading.

Ya but in the years since its launch obviously parts are going to get cheaper... That was the thing about the Slim, parts got better, and they could make something half the size do the same thing... I dont have anything against a slim model... I just dont like the fact that they launching something that is "BETTER" that what i bought thinking would be the best on offer for at least 8 - 10 years...

What stops them from doing this every 3 years?

PC's upgrade all the time? So why cry

As long as the old versions can still play the new games albeit at a limited experience only due to hardware.

Ok firstly, no tears have been shed.

The fundamental difference between PC gaming and Console gaming is that you dont ever have to upgrade the Console. That seems to be changing. And if you read above you would notice that i would encourage an upgrade-able console. Would you be happy forking out for a new PC every time you wanted to upgrade?

Still on PS3 & Xbox 360, With a (i5 + Radeon 290 + 8 gig ram/ 256gig SSD Steam Box) Will only switch to PS4 if they dont charge me to play my old games or XBone if the up their game to match PS specs, else I see no need for me to switch.

Neo's main target going to be 4K and VR... VR is the main reason both Sony and Microsoft are working on upgrades. Microsoft's upgrade will be announced at E3 seeing that some of the new componants are allready at FCC for approval under a NDA that expires right after E3 erm I mean VR3

On that note: they may as well call this years E3, VR 3 as VR headsets, games and whatnot gonna be all that you gonna see and hear.
