Star Citizen Alpha version 2.3.0 has been released to the SC Test Universe servers. Included in this release will be a Hangar Ready version of the Starfarer, a 90m long, 50m wide, 7 person dedicated bulk fuel freighter and refinery platform.

The Starfarer is designed not only to load, store and protect fuel stasis units, it is designed to take in spaceborne hydrogen and then refine it for use without landing. The Starfarer can also be used to ferry traditional bulk cargo pods but in such cases the fuel refining equipment would be useless. This equipment is modular and can be swapped out for another mission package for dry operations!

While still not fully component enabled or flyable, and still pretty glitchy, this video tour by STL Youngblood gives a good indication of the scale, detail, size, and features of the ship.

Couple of interesting portrait oriented screenshots found on the SC Community:
(Believe they are crops made from some screenshots that were originally produced at 5k, I've reduced them even further to load here. Link to the imgur gallery with the originals and full-size versions is here: http://imgur.com/a/9OWcp)

Need to find that sniper video, really gave me the feels that this game is going to turn out amazing. Sitting on an asteroid with a sniper rifle potting ground troops getting onto a station. DAMN!

Camper!
LOL.
There's actually quite a few sniper play vids out now, not sure which one you're referring to specifically, but this one is a pretty neat compilation of sniper kills:

Camper me, neva, I was just chilling on a asteroid waiting for the Starfera to arrive and thought I would snipe while I wait. :P

Thanks man, that's a great example video.
Are they still sticking to the end of the year single player release?

Yip, they're still going with the "late-2016" release line for Squadron 42 at the moment, as far as I know. Very, very little public info on the status of the development though. Officially, CIG are trying to keep as much of it under cover to avoid "spoiling the surprise" especially for early backers, who've been on board for a good while now.

They have released a few Behind the Scenes clips at the rate of about one a month featuring some of the bigger names in the SQ42 cast list. Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, and John Rhys-Davies have all had a turn. The most recent one featured Andy Serkis (him of Gollum and Supreme Commander Snoke fame) who plays the main Vanduul alien antagonist Thul'Óqquray. Pretty interesting clip from a technical "film making" point of view too.

This 2947 MISC Prospector features a durable hull and four centrally located side saddle storage containers to provide a compact profile for traveling through precarious areas of space. Anyone who has excavated asteroids knows that maintaining a stable position is essential, so MISC improved the VTOL thrusters with technology from our exclusive Xi’An partnership to make them strong enough to ensure your ship stays exactly where it needs to be when snagging those small chunks of precious rock, but sensitive enough to skillfully navigate through dense clusters.

The improvements don’t just stop there. Underneath the ship, an upgraded scanner offers a wider search area than ever before without having to change position, while the award-winning retractable mining laser has been modified to help you find and extract ores from previously hard to reach places.

I'm loving the game at the moment. Quests/missions are interesting. So I had a funny turn of events doing the first insurance quest. The one where you have to go find evidence for some lady. While I docked and started flying around the abandoned space station in my space suit, I noticed my ship was rolling away. LOL.

So I finished sending the evidence then got out of the space station. Ship is about 100m away, fly to the ship but it is in a continuous barrel roll. So I start trying to time it to open the door, which I did. Then after about 10 mins I get in. Then as soon as I try to sit down, it bugs out and throws me out. 1000m away :wtf:

After flying 100m I'm like Right Alt + Backspace :D

The mission would normally take about 15 mins. I took me 1 hour. I had to learn to Jump drive and then I crashed once on the space station(Landing in Cruise mode "whistling:).

What are you playing exactly?

What are you playing exactly?

Universe, some Port something.

Had a frustrating session yesterday. Had to find some probe. Finally get to it but I can't brake correctly. Ended up passing it like 10 times.
Then I switch to Precision mode. Flying as slow as possible. When I get to around 20m away, DC from server

Think I saw somewhere that it was suppose to be this month, can't remember where, probably someone going on the fact that recently they've been releasing a patch every month.
But I think either end of the month or next month.
I saw in their Monthly Report thought that they spent all of April working on 2.4 so probably soon, this one is gonna be big.

Please help with something. When I press the Jump drive button, it shows all locations of space stations and mission objectives but you can't see the speed you traveling. Then if you switch back, you can see your speed and flying modes but the locations in the HUD are gone. Anyway to have both?

2.4 is out on PTU. Can't wait to get my Freelancer going. It comes with such a nice hangar. I'm playing on high detail and it is so beautiful. Going to upgrade to DUR when flight ready.

Star Citizen Alpha 2.4.0 is now Live. (Went through 20-odd patch releases on the Test Universe before going live.)

Alpha 2.4 introduces the first iteration of in-game persistence and shopping, as well as major changes to the controls, updates to the ship roster (including making the massive Starfarer flyable in-game), bug fixes, balance updates and more! In short, this is our biggest and most important update since Star Citizen Alpha 2.0.

Full Patch Notes are HERE. There's a lot in there!

The Highlights:
  • Base and Gemini Starfarers now flight ready
  • MISC Reliant Kore now hangar ready
  • Amon & Reese Pyroburst scattergun available
  • Persistence introduced, including purchased items in shops, Alpha UEC balance, and hostility levels
  • Alpha UEC currency introfuced
  • First iteration of purchasable items in shops
  • Clothing lockers, must change into flight suit before exiting airlock
  • New missions and rewards paid in aUEC
  • New Liveworkd AR app in the mobiGlas that enables Port Modification Mode, enabling in-hangar loadout selection
  • Significant control changes (Printable PDF of new layouts here)
Here's a user video showing off some of the new elements (watch in HD if you can!)

And, as always, keep in mind that Star Citizen is still very much in Alpha-stage development. Bugs, crashes, weird issues, poor optimisation, server lag, etc. are all still to be expected.
