Gaming Build. Advice?

Hey there guys.

I've decided I'm going to put together a new PC as my old one is 10 years old now :/

I've chosen the following. Hoping to hear some advice about improvements etc.

Mobo: Asus Z170-K R2689
CPU: Intel i5 6600K R4299
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 R1971
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 950, 2GB R3234
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212X R587
Case: Corsair 200R R1009
PSU: SeaSonic M12II, 520w R1076

The reason for that GPU is I'm coming from an AMD HD 5850 and don't want to spend too much on a new GPU right now, since I'm sure better opitimized ones for DX12 and Oculus are right around the corner. Thoughts?

I much prefer Nvidia to AMD. The software and support are just so much better. Have terrible experience with AMD's software.

Reason for CPU is because I would like to overclock it for Dolphin which is a Wii emulator which needs the GHz

Hoping to hear what Joker has to say.

Edit: Forgot to mention I already have the PSU.

Looks very good.
I would however replace that cooler with a AIO CPU cooler. For not much more expensive you can get a decent Cooler Master or Corsair AIO CPU cooler. Worth it imo. And then I am sure Joker will say SDD as well

I think he'll probably rather say SSD :p

And summon the man by tagging him! @TheJoker, I summon thee! A young spleenpoker needs your wisdom!

SSD Might work as well yes. but just imagine putting an SDD in there. Whole new level

Ill add R300 and get the 960gtx from Wootware . Then you are sorted. The cooler is a beast ... Use it on my fiances rig and had one on my lan rig for a few years.

Then this iwll run most games without a hitch. My fiance has the similarly performing R9 380 and runs all new games ( witcher 3 and division ) pretty well

Looks good, I've got a 6600K with a Hyper 212X on it and have no problems at all with heat even though my case isn't the greatest for cooling - CPU OC'd to 4.3GHz and on a hot day it may reach the upper 40s but there is also the option of slapping another fan on the cooler to shift the air faster so that will give you even more cooling.

+1! Most definitely.

Also although his name has been mentioned nobody has actually summoned him...

*performs summoning ritual* JOKER!

Glad to see someone eventually managed to summon The Joker :D

I was wondering if I would have to do it. It is almost as difficult as summoning the crazy fish :p

What is your final budget? You mention not minding to spend a little more to get better parts.
Forward me your max budget and I'll put something together for you.

Thanx for summoning me guys :P lol

In talks with The Joker at the moment. Super excited. My current rig is still rocking a Q9400 and an AMD HD5850 and finally been able to put away some money. I look at console game comparisons nd see games running with an unstable 30fps. Just can't handle that
