What platform will you be getting?

The other night I had time for a round or two and my ping was in the 400ms+ range. Normally I'm happy to deal with a 230-260ms range but 300ms upwards is a bit much.

I see that there is a major issue with latency affecting the game. I noticed last night that my ping hovered around 230-240ms which is higher than normal for connecting to Europe (I usually get around 180-190ms). When I played the Beta I didn't notice any latency but I could definitely feel it while playing last night.

I see on the Overwatch forum there's a thread on this problem. There's issues with how Blizzard is routing traffic and it seems that at some point data is going via the US before reaching the server. Apparently using a VPN or routing service (WTF fast or Tunnelbear etc.) helps resolve the issue but isn't really a viable option as you have to pay monthly for the service. Are you guys just putting up with the lag or have you got your own solutions?

I Generally get 220ms and thats with wtfast need to speak to Afrihost

There is apparently issues with the latency on Afrihost (and other providers I think). The guys at work were discussing it. The short story is that something is configured correctly somehow and the the packets go from Europe -> USA -> Europe -> SA. I'm not 100% sure on the details or the original details where they read it :p But all I know is it doesn't affect Vox accounts.

I only have ftth in my area so I can't test other accounts other than my Vox 1. According to the work guys who are on ADSL/VDSL, their latency jumps up +/- 100ms when they use their Afrihost accounts compared to their Vox accounts.

Ya I did some tracert's and the problem seems to occur in Lisbon, Portugal. There's quite a few threads on the forum from guys in Portugal complaining about it. It seems that the network provider in Portugal has to sort our the routing issue so there's not much our South African ISP's can do about it.

Hopefully with the amount of complaints and support tickets Blizzard is receiving they'll get on top of this issue soon.

How is it that some SA ISP's aren't affected i.e. Mweb and Vox ?

Maybe it's a difference of routing via Seacom or WaCs or SAT3 - they possibly connect to Europe in different areas and the ones that go via Portugal are the only ones affected.
