Hi there.

So I'm running a qnix qx2710 overclocked to 96hz. I'm planning to upgrade my monitor but don't know of any good monitors available. I'm a heavy FPS gamer. I do play BF4 a lot and some single player games now and then.

My specs is

4790k
980ti
16GB ram

That's the most important part. I was looking at the pg279q but Now I see they all out of stock. The only ones I can find is Dell s2716dg, Asus pg278q so far. Other ones I also found but it's lower resolution is acer z35, benq xl2420g. I really want the g-sync as I'm struggling to reach 144fps in most games I play. The 165hz on the pg279q makes it a great option for me but like I said no stock. Anyone with experience on some of these monitors or actually comes from a qnix qx2710 and can share experience please do.

I was in the market for a PG279Q last week, and the cheapest I found was at Webantics. They told me they were out of stock but they would let me know when new stock arrived. I managed to get Evetech to match their price and I ended up getting from them instead (it was their last unit).

Now the good news for you: I just got an email this morning from Webantics telling me their new stock had arrived. I think they have 2 units. I'm obviously not getting from them any more, but if you want, they have the PG279Q for R17,520.59 incl.

Call Greig Orrell on 011 839 0716 or try directly from the site: http://www.webantics.com/asus-rog-swift-pg279q-27-widescreen-led-backlit-lcd-gaming-monitor

You'd better hurry, they say the stock will go very fast.

Ps. That monitor is COMPLETELY INSANE! I have a 980ti as well and you won't regret it. :D

Not sure if I am reading this wrong. But why do you want a 144 hz screen if you struggle to reach 144 fps. Will be quite a waste.
And if it is only for BF4 might be a bit of a waste as well as the Tick rates on Bf4 servers a pathetic. It has nothing to do FPS or hz though, but also to do with response times. This time between the client and the server. I think it is something like 32 tick if i am not mistaken. Where csgo comp server are 128 tick. I have a Benq 144 hz. And if your pc can run comfortably about 144hz then it is 100% worth it indeed

The reason i want g-sync. It's not all about tick rate. i don't want 144hz or higher so that I can react quicker it's just a better and smoother experience. The qnix monitor is not that grweat for gaming. I think the response time is not that great anyway. in bf4 I can reach about 200fps but in some single player games due to the fact that I can do 165hz if I upgrade my graphics card I will be able to reach 165hz. I can always go 144hz 1080p and be sure I get 144hz in pretty much almost any game I play but the going from 1440p to 1080p will drive me nuts as I'm to use to 1440p now.

if i can reach 144hz any time then what's the point of getting g-sync then?

Ahh okay then it is fine yes. But in BF4, even though you might be able to react a bit quicker visually, it will take longer to translate to the server due to the tick rate. Hence why I never played BF4 seriously and why most people tend to spray more in BF than in other games

I'm not to worried about reacting quicker it's just better to look at when you have 144hz or higher.

Most people don't notice the difference at all unless you are used to a 144hz. The main reason people buy a 144hz is for the reaction time.

If you play a demo on one screen and then after that on another. One being a 60hz and other 144hz. I bet you 90% of people won't notice the difference except for the less vibrant color on the 144hz

bit off topic but thats incorrect. Comp servers in CSGO (MM anyway) are 64 tick. its only the LAN's that the pros go on that are 128 tick. if you make yourself a dedicated server it can be 128 but otherwise any casual or comp you play through Valve will be 64 tick...its the reason the pros dont care about matchmaking :p

I am not talking about MM servers. I am talking about Competition servers. DGL and so on. Truest me, have played many a match in my days. They are 128 tick cmd up and down

Then we are in agreement. Since multiple times there I mentioned that "private" servers are in fact 128, but MM servers are 64 tick. Just wanted to clarify, since we're not in a csgo forum and if you just say comp server ppl will assume MM comp, so had to point it out ;)

Makes sense yeah.

There have been many requests to make all servers 128 tick. But our local Servers, and most peoples internet and computers will not be able to handle it :(

Yeah, sadly there was also someone (possibly WarOwl?) who spoke about it and mentioned how much extra it would cost Valve to upgrade their servers to 128 tick, since it would require that much more hardware to handle it all, it really isnt worth it just to get us plebs up to where the proper players are playing at. So it likely isnt ever going to happen, not in the near future anyway....

sorry for thread derail :p

last OT, Dammit NiP, why you have to go and suck, you were my first bet since losing a bet on NaVi in the finals (and Fnatic x2 before that). Seriously, if someone wants to win, just bet on the team I'm betting against :'(

Well I do. I went from 60hz to 96hz and could see the difference like night and day. please let's not argue i can see and that's all that matters. Can we stick to my original topic.
