Show off your internet connection

So, there have been a few "show off your rig" or "show off your 3DMark score" threads, but I could not find one about internet connections. And I finally have something to brag about!

Had my fibre installed in our estate and after some small teething problems I now get the speeds I was hoping for!

Steam is loving it and I downloaded The Witcher 3 in an evening!

Fast.com is also showing promise

And of course the mybroadband speedtest is also quite impressive.

The connection is a 20mbps uncapped from iConnect. I am in Ballito, KZN.

Go on, share your tests here too!

It's really not that fast...

I mean seriously, can do better...

...ok it's from a server that is almost next to the Speedtest server in Cape Town (same DC)

Work internets. Looks fast, it isn't. I don't know what they do to it, but you'd be surprised how slow websites can load over this connection.

You think yours is bad, try a bonded ADSL with 4x 10mb lines syncing at 8mb ea.

Spoiler: show

Yall people with your fancy ass internet connections...this is my life at work:

Okay fine, it's not bad, plus I can download almost as much as I want, and none of my work is really that impeded by it, so I guess I can't complain.

Oh wow that looks horrible! The thing that ticks me off though, is that speedtest shows 20Mbps, but my 6Mbps line at home loads things way, way faster. I think all the proxies and firewalls and http tunnels and rats and things just kill it.

I'm just glad MyGaming works again. About a month or so ago MyG was blocked at work. Sacrilege!

At the moment, my home connection might reach 2Kbs - yes Kilo bits per second - down and ping times of 2 seconds to Google DNS.:D I might exaggerate a bit but I am seriously so tired of my connection - it used to be just fine.
It is hilarious...not. Got better speeds with my 56K modem back in the day.
Seems like Telkom LTE is the only viable solution for me now - but I am so hesitant in signing another contract with them.

Yeah exactly the same here; my work internet looks about the same as yours, with similar shitty actual speeds. I need to buffer my YT videos ahead of time mostly, for instance.

I have the same problem

So tired of connection time outs, pages taking 2min to load, connections being dropped, etc

I'm just glad I'm no longer in IT and have to bare the brunt of it and the wrath of zee Germans.

I had exactly the same problem as MalicE and Blazzok and nearly switched ISPs. For example Showmax on SD had to keep catching up and Youtube was just as bad. Some site were super fast, but others (Like Takealot) were just pathetic and kept timing out.

So I chatted to the technical guys and assisted them in their routing and now it is working as expected. I never wait for a Youtube to cache and Showmax switches to HD on the we nearly instantly, while on my Explora it is like 3 minutes cached by the time the initial 30 seconds is over. So big up to iConnect for listening and changing things on their side.

I luckily don't have that problem at home, just with the work internet, but that I can do nothing about.

Google's services have very interesting routing , many of them update multiple times a day to balance load.

So if you have problems at certain times check your route and maybe change / flush your DNS

LTE is never the solution. Fibre to the premises is
