So I am eyeing out a new graphics card a Geforce 1070. It's got 8 gigs of ram.
So whats the first thing i do? I upgrade my pc to 16gigs ram.
Even though every benchmark/hardware site says that 8 will do and 16 gig is basically a pointless when it gomes to gaming. But it seems wrong to have a GPU with = amount of RAM as my MB.

Anybody else think that way or do things just cause that's just the way they see the world.

Nope. If a bunch of review sites tell me spending money on this has no benefit...then I don't do it unless I have (solid) reason to believe otherwise.

I slog hard for my money...so I shoot for maximum benefit from it.

I'm with you. Seems strange to have GPU RAM = system RAM. However, that's the point of VRAM, that it won't have to draw from your system to keep up with the demands of the game. 16GB of system RAM is the bare minimum for any system I'll use though.

At least I am not alone. But I have a feeling that with Vulcan and DX12, that newer games will actually be able to make more use of your systems specs. I mean that's the whole idea of having a low level API to make the most of multicore CPU's.

Anyway I hope I am future proofing, or that's what I am telling myself.
