Fellow forumites, I am going to respond to this post. If you feel that this is fighting or negative, and makes you disinclined from further participating in the thread, please drop me a PM.
I am trying to figure out where the line is in terms of negative discussions that are damaging to the forum, and your feedback on this would be much appreciated.
Constraints? Multiple people said they would do it for free and some even did. Why not add those to the pole. Instead of taking 3 options chopped and changed from previous logos and articles used already as pointed out.
Don't think people are being unfair at all. The active community is what keeps any site and forum alive and I just feel that it could have been done much differently. As you can see from what people have said that do not know the site, that they can't read the new logo and that the tab looks like a button

That must at least be seen as constructive criticism ?
Saying things like "the active community is what keeps any site and forum alive" makes you come across as entitled, and makes me less inclined to listen to you.
This community is friendly and awesome, I am very happy to have been able to rejuvenate MyGaming's growth so that we can continue to provide it a home. However, based on the stats I pore over every day, the belief that it keeps the site alive is incorrect.
That doesn't mean I don't value the input of the community, as this thread hopefully illustrates. As some have already pointed out, the feedback on this very thread influenced the colouring of the logo.
I don't know if I missed one of the free logos that were designed, but everyone who contributed that I saw really wanted Inky to stay and included him in their logo design. As I explained earlier in the thread, that was not an option, so we couldn't use them if we did a revote.
That was one of the constraints. Another significant constraint was time. Even if we could do a revote with new logos, there wasn't time to do one. However, we could try and incorporate any specific suggestions people made (like the colouring suggestions).
That said, this logo isn't cast in stone. I am open to any further constructive suggestions from the community (like the feedback on the "g" and "a"), especially those who take them time to do a design of their own.
Keep in-mind that we do have an in-house designer who also spent a lot of time working within the various constraints to come up with what he did - there is lots of stuff behind the scenes that you don't see that we have to account for.
While I can't guarantee that we will use a community-designed logo, I will certainly bring design ideas to the rest of the team and see if we can incorporate them. If there are enough variants, maybe we can even do another vote.
