5 space exploration games to play instead of No Man's Sky

If you were disappointed by No Man's Sky, you sure as hell won't be happy playing Elite.

Does it still have the same problems it did at launch? (i.e. lack of content).

I recommend trying out Empyrion: Galactic Survival, although it's still in Alpha it has a ton of features and really cool mechanics :)

Pretty much. Compared to NMS it has nothing. All the planets (the ones you can land on) are dead rocks and there are about 5 variations there. and I think 3 station types. The ships are pretty though. And I will say space combat in Elite is more satisfying.

I will definitely look at Empyrion once I'm "done" with NMS

That's a shame, the combat looks quite action-packed but I would expect more from planetary landing and stations.

in that aspect Elite is a "simulator" so after a while landing and taking off of planets can become a chore. that's if you even manage to land cause a lot of the planets are high gravity and if your engines aren't strong enough it will just slam you into the surface

Don't quite agree with you here. Elite Dangerous was not billed as a game where planet exploration was a main feature. It is simply one of many features. In everything else it completely and utterly blows No Man's Sky out of the water.

Ironic cause Elite doesn't have any :p

look, you can't make a 1 on 1 comparison of Elite and NMS, because essentially they are two very different games. Elite is a sim and NMS is more arcade. BUT, content wise, purely based just on what you can do and see, NMS wins hands down.

And don't get me started on Elite's pricing model and micro-transactions

I have to butt in here, although you may chase me right back out again. Wait until December (hopefully) and play Star Citizen Alpha 3.0. :D

Jamie beat me to it.

Lol true that. But yeah, looking forward to December. A full system will give it a bit more to play around with.

What you can see, maybe, but not in terms of what you can do. In the first two hours you can do everything NMS has to offer and it just repeats from there with slightly different visuals as you go along.

Essentially:

NMS - 18 quintillion planets wide, as deep as a puddle
ED - a galaxy wide, as deep as an ocean

I don't begrudge you your enjoyment of NMS, but comparing it to ED and then saying it has more content than ED is being borderline dishonest.

Empyrion is look mighty damn fine. Just needs a bit more spit and polish.

It needs a lot more, but it has some really cool mechanics and plays well despite the bugs. Also it has multiplayer! :D

But it's always a good idea to be wary of Early Access. It's a lesson most of us learn the hard way ...ahem...DayZ

Yeah, DayZ was a hard lesson to learn. This is my Steam review for it:

This is the game that made me realise early access developers just want to trick me so they can abuse my boy hole.

And that's really all you need to say about DayZ. :D

Dude please. ED has one thing. You fly. Oh shit wait, you land as well. And then you fly again. Gameplay and content wise it cant compete with NMS. Simply because they are two completely different type of games.

You in say NMS after 3 hours you have done everything there is to be done. In ED that is the first 20min.

Bull. Shit. There's really no other way to describe it.

Honestly, I respect that you like No Man's Sky but please don't lie through your teeth.

I thought No Mans Sky WAS an alpha game...I mean if you look at all the trailers/teasers and stuff about it beforehand...theres still alot of features they've SHOWN us that aren't in the game yet...to me thats an alpha...not so?

Either that or blatant false advertising.
