Xbox 360 VS PS3

One word .... Uncharted 2!!! (or is that 2 :))

I'm not a fanbooi, but you guys must play this game. Its like playing a blockbuster movie. Definatey raised the bar. Nothing compares. Period.

p.s. you can have the media players easily setup to PS3 as well so thats not really a XBOX pro. The PS3 is even simpler. You got a harddrive with you music/video on, plug it into your PS3 and you moving. Simple. I dont have a fancy PC so the PS3 does the job if I need to browse the internet. The BluRay player is just a bonus. OK, maybe I'm a little bit of a fanbooi :D

Ok so now you have to go out and buy an external then copy all the files you want onto it before being able to watch it.... And thats easier than simply pluging an eithernet cable into your xbox, downloading MS Media Center if you PC doesn't have it and you ready to rock and roll....

Well it can be small but then you will be running back and forth between you PC and PS3 every 2 hours to change the movies or music. Say what you will Xbox's Media Center pwns PS's.

both machines are very good media players, the only difference is with the ps3 you can store the movies on the internal hdd, with the xbox you can stream from the pc or rip music to your hard drive and play it while you're playing games, however (since the xbox does not allow you to copy movies on the internal drive) you will have to copy it on a flash drive or a removable hdd and play it from there,

I have several of my Movies copied on my PC harddrive and streaming them to the xbox and watching them on my TV is awesome and there is not extra space being used on my Xbox hardrive. My Next pc build is going to have 2, 4 or 6, 2TB hardrives in it where i can copie all my DVD's to and then streaming it to my TV via the Xbox is a piece of cake.

Thats not what I said. You can easily stream media from your PC using a PS3 just like the XBOX. I just gave another alternative which works for me because my notepad doesnt work anymore and I have a WD passport drive with no power supply which works for me.

Media Centre still kills the PS3. Go google media browser for windows 7 it gives Media Centre the freedom and looks you wish it had. But this does take some work. If u Know ur way around a PC and I'm not talking about being able to rip cd's and Burning Dvd's it will take about 2-3 hour to get going. I don't think Ps3 has a killer add-on that works as good as Media Centre does on the xbox 360.

Hi Omega. Just for the record WMP11 streams to the PS3 straight out of the box, so no fancy set-up is required.

TVersity works better in general for streaming to either XB or PS, if you are willing to tinker a bit, especially for MP4 streaming which WMP11 (or Media Centre ofr that matter) doesn't do by default. You need a windows registery hack for MP4 library listing support (that only works sometimes).

"PS3 media server" is also a decent app, and supports the Xbox as well these days. But it needs the Java runtime on the machine which adds to the installation hassle in most cases.

Xbox comes standard with network cable and an hd cable, PS3 dont...
And only if you buy an xbox arcade does it not come with an hdd

That is true and a good point. :) I meant though that when it comes to upgrading, the notebook HDD for PS3 is a definite advantage. Besides hardware though I have been onto Xbox live and find it lacking in content compared to the PSN network.

I would tend to disagree. XBL has WAY better marketplace content (especially with regards to "Arcade" games) than PSN, but Sony seem to be working on it though.

True. XBL has more content.
Amazed though with the dude about the cables. I mean those for the PS3 are generic so you can pick up any cheap one for R100 - same quality as the expensive ones.
Actually had to jippo my XBOX cable to use a generic HMDI cable. Only thing I dont like about MS peripherals - you only have "option" to buy XBOX peripherals/cables etc. Anyway, works like a charm. :)

Definately.

On a related story. When Powercare swopped out my busted Xbox Pro 6 months odd back, they gave me a Arcade back. I only realised this last week, when I got a new HDMI enabled home theatre set-up.
After 5 mins of trying to plug an HDMI cable into the rear USB port of the Xbox, the penny (and my opinion of Powercare) dropped. :)

I hope I can get it sorted out, but I doubt it...

Dude, all you do is you crack open the standard XBOX cable casing. Remove the bottom section, then you can fit in your 3rd party cheap HDMI cable. You can use the optical output from there as well if need be.

PS3 or XBox360?

I am thinking of buying one of them but i dont know which one to get. I am used to the playstation paddles. I know Xbox has Halo which is a plus for that. But I also want to use it as a computor in my bedroom. So which ever one is better at online. Just give me your reasons why you like one of them.

You cant use XBOX as a computer. You can use the pre slim PS3 versions as a computer if you load Linux. I wouldn't bother though. Why do you want to use it as a computer?

p.s. Play Halo before you do anything. It's probably the most overrated game ever.

Um.... have you though this through?

If you want a computer for surfing the net and running a few applications,
you'd probably be better off with a cheapish PC than fiddling with one of the old, fat PS3s and Linux. [Not that I have anything against Linux]

You you have you mind set on trying this, you might as well take
a look at this

Just like Kill Zone 2 is the most over rated PS3 game in history.

According to VG Charts Killzone only sold 1.98Mil copies world wide...

Halo 3 however sold 10.26mil world wide & since its Release ODST, which has only been out a month or so has sold 2.82mil. Out selling the Mighty PS3 game.

So yes Halo might be overrated but sales figures speak for them selfs. 10mil people wouldn't buy the game if it sucked now would they.

And yes I am a Halo fanboi, not denying it.
