Internet problem

First off, I thought there would be a sticky thread for internet problems. I suppose people usually go to MyBB for these type of things, who knows.

I just had a very weird problem. My PC lost it's connection to the internet. This usually happens when my modems loses sync for whatever reason, so that is the first thing I always check, however I could see my modem was still sync'd and connected to the internet (and has been for the past 5 days).

I then checked my router and it was connecting just fine to the modem, but I restarted both the router and modem just in case, but that didn't fix it, my PC was still not connecting to the internet (it was connecting to the LAN).

I disabled and re-enabled my network adapter as well, but that didn't work, so I decided to just leave it for now, I'll get back to it later.

Then after about 10 or 15 minutes, my PC magically connected to the internet again. I have no idea why or what the hell happened.

Any ideas? I'm basically asking so that if it happens again in the future I know what to do or what to try at least.
 
One thing you may have done but didn't mention: did you check whether your router had "dialled" your ISP and was connected.

After your line syncs, you still have to connect to the ISP. If their auth servers are down or if there some or other problem at Telkom then you might not be able to connect to the Internet despite having line sync.

Yeah I did.

My modem shows both my sync speed and if it is connected to the internet. Top part is the sync, bottom the connection status.

Very strange. When did this happen, and which ISP are you in?

All I can think is that there was some temporary problem on the network that got fixed in the 10-15 minutes you were doing something else.

Just after 16:00, and I'm with Afrihost. I did check their website on my phone when my net was down, but I didn't see anything.

Oh well, don't worry about it. /pray it doesn't happen again :)

I had the exact same problem at around the same time yesterday, it was also afrihost. I lost connection, swapped to another account to check if it was that and could connect...waited about 10 minutes and connected back to afrihost (and got a new IP).


EDIT: Saturday, sorry...it happened saturday :p
