The Official Battlefield 1 thread

So noticed that the pricing has increased dramatically on the Origin store. Standard Edition was R600, Deluxe Edition was R850 and Ultrimate was R1200, now pricing has changed to R1000, R1100 and R1899...What in the actual fuck? Did they see the local pricing for COD and decided ooh we need to jump on this pricing train...

Sorry for not responding sooner. I was wolfing down a breakfast and rushing to my shuttle to the airport when this notification came through. I see my minions handled it nicely, though.

Did EA support get back to you?

Yeah, they aren't in control of pricing so wouldn't be able to help with price related complaints ect.

I've been trying to get one of the bigger international gaming sites to investigate this but I doubt I'll get anywhere with that.
Eh I think I'm cancelling my order, even though I purchased it at the old pricing (When the Rand was slightly higher than it is now...). Pricing like this will destroy the local player base and quite a few of my origin mates have decided to skip the game.

Yeah that what they told me on my call ticket. I did tweet @EA_SouthAfrica but no response there.

Problem is you cancel your preorder then you change your mind and you going to have pay new price.
Or wait around until it's on special.

the problem is that's what gamers say but then come release day they go an buy the game anyway.

COD know's this and that why even after all the bad publicity the new COD is still going to sell.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually considering CoD at this point.

I played COD:BO3 just a little while back. First COD I played in years. I didn't really like it, or the main story. The gunplay was just to I dunno how to describe it maybe "loose". BF4 is less run and gun I guess, after playing BF1 though when you put on the gas mask and you can't ADS, then it starts to feel more CODish.
I've reserved my right to have an opinion on the new COD until maybe after it's out.

I actually played one round last night and i was sniping as per usual. First round 5 headshot kills all over 500m and it fealt easy. I actually like the game but man that pricing killed it for me ill wait till its free in the fault and then get it. I got pvz gw 2 last night.

I think it's been mentioned but the bullet velocity has been upped in BF1 as opposed to the older bf4 games.
Sniping moving targets is a little easier. Just need to know where to aim to get those headshots on those cavalry guys now.
Does a "K bullet" take down a horse in one shot I know its 3 regular headshots for a horse.

I achieved my goal of getting the dog tag though. :D
I also took out a cheat tester?Dice Staff? got his dog tag :)

Dude I have but the sad truth is I really think they just don't care we are so small a market they would rather negate the losses of people buying the game via VPN than help the South African community.

Was really bummed out this week was hyped about the game since launch but there is no way I can justify to myself a purchase of a R1000.00 for a single game.

that is a bit much

Thats really sad, but its on par for the world we are part of, they'd rather try to make a few rand more by increasing the price of the game, but they are so blinded by money that they dont understand that they would have made more by keeping it the price it was, more ppl would have bought it then. That plus the hype the game had, so many ppl was going to buy it in SA.
Then on the other hand, I guess ppl will still buy the game, luckily I'm a bit off gaming the last few months, so its helping me not buy the game.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaars ago, they sold Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 for R99 when the average retail price was ~R300, iirc, they made of loads of money. Cant remember the figure, but the game sold very well. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, CoD and BF are the same now.

I suspect they would have worked out they were losing more from people in the US buying the south african version, than they were expecting to make from our relatively small market. I wouldn't be surprised to see the price go back a week or two after the initial release. They do need to find a better solution though.

We haven't heard anything yet. I'll give their local agents a call this week to hear if they're hearing anything.

I feel like Battlefield is negging me.

First i teases me with the beta but no local servers.

Then it ups the price, like i am special and you need to splurge to prove your love for me.

Now, it like sure you can have me but you know your machine can't handle me.

Curse you BF!

Trailer does look incredible, which is sad, as the game will have to wait for a 50% discount before I touch it legally.

Not that I do it anymore, its easier to just buy them nowadays, but even touching games illegally for the single player campaign is difficult with the new anti-piracy measures, plus its really a multiplayer game at its core.

yeah, good on them for that, but I'll only try it later when the price drops.
