Forza Horizon 3

My boner is so hard for this game!!! I cannot wait to play it. The concept they are going for seems much better than before with regards to the customization of the races. Also, this game looks absolutely gorgeous. I've been starving myself from all driving games since March this year, so I am pretty much sitting with driving games blue balls.

Yeah, it's looking flippin gorgeous. I really really love the setting of Australia this time round, from cities to landscapes. Can spend countless hours in it, though I don't think I'll be getting it day1 as it's releasing the day before payday.

Anyone tried the demo yet?
Ran a little of it yesterday. (Actually streamed it to my PC via the XBox app cos the kid was watching telly - worked well.) Was well impressed with it both visually and performance wise to be honest.

Game modes seem pretty standard Forza Horizon stuff, but the "make choices because you're now the festival boss" mechanic could be interesting. Saw a couple of Drivatars from some of the guys in the Forza 6 challenges - not sure if that's because they've also run the demo, or if it's carrying info over from friends lists. There is mention of a 4-player online co-op mode which sounds neat, and I see leaderboards are available for the challenges and races (were they in FH2? Can't remember.) Could possibly a way to continue the Forza Challenges in FH3.

Although the demo is only on XBox at the moment, the Windows 10 integration is evident. See a option (unaaialble in the demo) to link your in-game music to your Groove Music collection for example.

All-in-all looks good, and I'm now looking forward even more to the full release and to playing it on my PC directly.

The demo finished downloading and installing last night for me, and I grabbed a few hours of game time. OMW this game is a huge eyegasm. It's tremendously gorgeous. Most definitely the best looking game on Xbox One, by far. Gameplay is solid as you would expect, and I have a feeling that this may end up being the best Forza ever.

Also, here are some screenshots from the Forza subreddit. All these were taken in game using photo mode on Xbox One...

Amazing man... how big was the download? I'm having an issue getting my console online for some reason, just not connecting to my wireless.

For a demo it's a pretty sizeable download: 18.34GB! How you get the connection sorted soon enough, and you've got the bandwidth to spare.

I had the game pre ordered but I've since cancelled it. I want the game with all my heart but I'm sorry, spending nearly R2000 on the game and all it's content is just madness, same goes for BF1, unfortunately EA already charged me for the game but I'll be returning it on launch.

I'm surprised you haven't bought it yet. The pre-load for both Xbox One and PC is now available. They are both quite big downloads, in the region of 50GB each.

Yeah, difficult to come up with >1k cash.

I wonder though, I know PC and XB1 will be able to play together and co-op. But would an XBLive subscription have to be used to play on PC in order to play MP like you do with XB1.

Nope, you do not need to have Xbox Live to play multiplayer on PC. You do need that for Xbox One though.

Excuse my ignorance, but how is Horizon different from Vanilla Forza? ie How would Horizon 3 be different from (the future) Forza 7 (except for graphics)?

Forza is broken into two different focused racing games; Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon.

Forza Motorsport is focused on creating a driving simulation experience, with realistic car handling and grip mechanics across real world closed circuits. The game focuses on circuit racing as it's core. This is why the tone is more serious than normal driving games

Forza Horizon is more of a fun loving game, where the focus is on exploration and pure driving pleasure. The game does not have set real world circuits, but rather a large open world map, where you can drive on different surfaces. The game is much more laid back, and it shows even in it's mechanics. The game lends a lot of driving mechanics from Forza Motorsport, but it is not as serious or an accurate simulation like FM is. The game is therefore considered to be more arcadey. There is however still the distinct Forza feel.

Forza 7 will, when it is released, focus on tightening the real world racing aspect of the game, becoming more and more an accurate simulation, and Horizon 3 is more for dicking around.

In short, Forza Motorsport = Michael Schumacher. Forza Horizon = Jeremy Clarkson

Ah cool, thanks for the explanation. This does make the game sound pretty damn enticing. Who doesn't like a good Clarkson session? :D
