It think you mean http://www.dx.com/p/replacement-usb...odule-for-samsung-s5-g9008v-black-blue-375060 :p

But yes, thanks. If the repair price is anything remotely outlandish, I'll take that route.

What methods have you tried so far, to get it working?

What exactly is the problem with the phone?

Watch YouTube vids on the disassembly of the phone: my recommendation.

The little plastic thingy that holds the exposed data/power pins in the phone's micro usb broke clean off. So the female usb port now looks like a toothless smile.. I should've taken a photo to post. So replacing the port is the only realistic option. I've watched a video of replacing the port, which led me to believe that it'd be about half an hour's work for someone experienced, probably a Saturday morning if I did it myself. Looks like the part is ~R100 to get to SA via DX, so I figure if it's more than R300 I should tell my wife that I'll tackle it.

Hagan can repair the phone for you Avatar. It's just a shame that he lives in the middle of nowhere. I'm sure there's a dog there with the name Courage.

Ja, if my middle of nowhere was anywhere close to his middle of nowhere, I'd have gotten the phone to him by now, for advice :)

Yeah it's one of a couple, price range seems to be between R70 and R140 depending on what you need. Your best bet is/was to open the phone and see exactly what the thing looks like.

I've replaced many cracked/broken screens with stuff i've bought from DX. Hell, even bought a water damaged SII back from the dead with DX parts.

It's the only one that I saw with the model number, G900, or marked as for the S5. I'm confident that I'll be able to replace it myself, but the SO wants it done as soon as possible, so for a couple of hundred rand more, she'd be happy with it.

Donisia, I had a chance to try F.E.A.R. on my win 10 machine...it crashed on first launch when it tried to detect system performance. But once i went in again and set all that out manually I was able to play it just fine. Maybe try it with Steam Overlay off?

Otherwise, what gfx card do you have and what is your native resolution on the monitor? :)
I got it sorted doing the same thing :) thanks, don't know why I didn't think of that the first time..

Morning, everyone.
PsychoFish, Hagan: SO gave it in at a shop for repair. My DIY fixing skills with duct tape and Pratley Steel will have to wait for another day!

I wish you and the phone the best of luck. :)

If I may ask - which shop did you take it to?

Hey Wyv, how have you been? Is everything more quiet now?

Hey there, oh there is still drama at the office, currently tho I am coping a bit better with it. I am just still struggling to concentrate on gaming and studies. Its stressing me out a fair bit, I am not sure how I will do, I already screwed up this years studies by failing one subject - we need to pass 4 a year to stay current with unisa. Not sure how or when I will catch up.

I still need to go see a dentist for some work, but yea Im stalling since I cant pay a dentist right now - and I havent found one that will do a payment plan. Car repairs and all sorts as well.

But I am mentally in a slightly better space than I was a week or so ago.

How have you been?

How have you been?

Its good that you're doing better.

I've started running again. That always makes me feel more positive. Things at work are really slow so I get home with a headache, the running helps.

I've also been wondering if I should start studying again. But last time UNISA sent through my materials three weeks before the exam. That pissed me off and I quit. Plus I don't have the best history with studying.

Hoping to finish my masters next year. Then I'll consider doing another degree or possibly a Doctorate, not sure. Bachelor of Commerce should go nicely with my B.Sc.

trust me currently you dont want to deal with unisa, not with all the protesting going on, it is affecting us as well. I just got my exam dates and I am writing my difficult paper on the 25th of Oct - so I have at least amonth to study and not like last semester a week.

Things are slow at the office as well for me, but the drama doesnt go away.

Just got kakked out again
due to the fact that word 2016 is auto formatting all the bosses documents. And we cant get it to stop. I need to find a way to force that function to not work on his laptop. He just came and editted the document on my pc which is fine, except that its a kak pc and very slow. And has issues staying connected to the server. So even tho I have told him about this numerous times, I just got kakked out because I cant stop word from auto formatting his documents and because my pc is slow and it almost crashed....

I do exersice in the evenings, playing with the dogs, taking them for walks, but because my dad is my boss, I go from work where I am tense and unhappy to home where its more of the same.
