[MyGame] Grim Dawn

Yeah veteran is definitely recommended. The game spawns more elites and loot drops are a little better as well. Once you finish it you unlock Elite and after that Epic difficulty. Good luck with those though...

I am level 15 playing on Normal(Veteran). I've just secured the rift in Burrwich.

We are delighted to see that newcomers seem to be enjoying the game. What have you been missing, eh? Those who loved the game before the start of MyGame, are still loving it, because they love to love it.

This here is Crad Bradnats:

20160927225502_1.jpg

Born Brad Bradnats, he attended no institution of learning, didn't learn from his peers, ate whatever he wanted and meditated for up to 8 minutes a day and became cozysnuggle-champ of the damp damp stubby. In his early teens, he discovered that his vagina was not only for the peepee and decided to reassign his gender, in his mind. He changed his name to the more feminine sounding Crad and the rest is history. Sexy, sexy history.

We'll be taking one picture every time he levels up, so before the end of November there'll be 85 of 'em. Barnes & Noble will have a suitable photo album, I just know it.

We just did that last night after you and wyvern and Xiphan left :) also around 15/16/17 I believe (not easymode)

And we've had our first death.

HHSHE (my brazilian buddy i play with - not taking part in Mygaming) died at lvl 10 HC.... R.I.P.

When you say right at the start are you talking about when you start the game now or what the game was like when it was first released to alpha access? If it's the latter I agree completely, the level of polish this game has seen over the years is impressive! Just to highlight how much it has changed you could watch this video I recorded when I first got alpha access to the game:

So many changes. I forgot how hideous the main menu and UI used to be. Even the model for the hangman changed. :p I was quite impressed by how, even when they were nearing the game's release, they went back and gave existing environments a touch up and even gave the Arkovian Ruins an entire facelift!

Yeah, I don't know what the hell was going on. It seems like these days unless you have fibre you're $417 out of luck for hosting a game and getting decent latency. I find it surprising how an old game like Warcraft 3 could host a game supporting 10 players on as little as whatever the upload speed of a 512k line was and each player would still get less than 100ms ping. Yet now with 4Mb ADSL and 512k upload speed I'm lucky if my latency ever drops below 100ms when playing. Has the quality of DSL in this country really become so bad that we can't even manage sub 50ms response times when connecting locally to each other?

Considering how many secrets this game has it pays to fully explore the entire area and even then there are parts of the game you will miss because they don't show up on the map. ;) One such area even leads to an entire late game quest path...

Spoiler: show

Be honest, how many of you missed this? :p

WAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait WHAT! How?!! what level is that tho (And you better share more secret places!)

I will go do that tonight!

And I mean the start of the game, I have had it for almost a year now, I couldnt get into the game the first time round, now I just wanna go home and play. And I have to get some studies in.

Crad's equipment would indicate that she's a diehard eclecticist, but we all know that this is the norm for early-game ARPGs. The cool stuff come later.

She's just made an appointment with Cronley and she does not intent to be late.

This afternoon's Grim Dawn Beholder newspaper carries the headline: "Crad Despised by Cronley's Gang". When asked for comment, Crad apparently replied "I can't carry anymore".

The secret I posted above is the starting point for the Hidden Path and I would not recommend attempting it until you have finished the game as the bosses you face in it are extremely OP! Like they rival the final boss in terms of difficulty. :wtf:

Otherwise some easier secrets in Act 1 are:

Spoiler: show

  • Hallowed Hill (Level: 18-40)

    View attachment 22671
  • The Ominous Lair in the Abandoned Storerooms section of the Hidden Laboratory. (Level: 16-30)
  • Sunken Reliquary in The Flooded Passage. Although this area is in Act 1 it requires 3 dynamite from Act 2 to access it. (Level: 25-50)

Lol I know exactly what you mean; you either wanna complete one more quest, explore one more area, level up to unlock one more skill or find one more devotion shrine to finally get that passive devotion ability, etc. Suffice to say the game is addictive. :D

I just did find this - I like it because it doesnt give away much of anything - it just helps the completionist in me stay sane.

There's also this map site: maps.grimdawn.es which I thought was really cool. But alas it hasn't been updated in a while while and is missing all the new content added after act 3. :( Otherwise there's always the wiki. :o

Haha, there's also a secret behind the wall here where you kill Cronley. :p

AWesome thanks, I will go finish that area in Act one that I can do for now. I also still need to find the dynamite since I havent found any yet. Last night I spent about 40mins running around the muddy fields or what ever its called looking for a cave with a lev 27 boss in it that I skipped earlier cos it once shotted me :P I took revenege

I assume you are referring to Gutworm, The Maneater? He's found in an area called Smuggler's Basin, the entrance to which spawns in one of three different locations around the Burrwitch Outskirts. This is another example of a secret area and there are a few more in the game where entrances to caves are moved between random spawn locations. Happy hunting. ;)

Since people are now busy with Act 2 here are some tips if you want to minimise NPC casualties (yes, your actions have consequences in Grim Dawn :p).

Spoiler: show

  • If you kill Silas in New Harbour instead of leaving him be or bribing him Cronley will send people to slaughter everyone except the children in the village. You will later be able to rescue the children after defeating Cronley and place them under Constance's care. Killing Cronley or bribing Silas is the best way to end the oppression of the people of New Harbour.
  • Julius Cole - If you pay him 300 iron bits a new conversation will open up with his companion which will allow you to teleport them to Devil's Crossing.

I honestly cant remember, but the fooker was difficult, he almost caused my second death

This is my new favourite NPC. ah the lols. Harvey the Drifter for president!

Spoiler: show

And yes, note the writing at the top left :D

Our power was off the whole of last night, so I didn't play at all. I was looking forward to playing the game whole day yesterday. Hoping to get some game time tonight.

Yay was lucky enough to have a blue flame dmg shield drop for me last night which is perfect for my build. Just wish the lich king sword i have was fire and not poison dmg.

Got up to level 8 i think last night. Off to a new rift, thats my next quest. Totally only clicked last night that I invested in a projectile spell.
Been using my sword the entire time waiting to get a staff -_-
