The best free antivirus for serious PC gamers

the last time I used it it managed to go through 12gb in just a week on our 2mb line. It played a big part in our line being throttled.

Something dodgey going on there. Never seen it use that amount of data on both our laptops and desktops combined. Been using it for a couple of years now.

Download less porn and you won't have to worry about your antivirus needing updating often... :p

Yeah, I've never had an issue with Avast.

But since I've migrated to Windows 10 I haven't installed any AV program, haven't had any issues.

Have the paid version of Avira on my work OS, but for my gaming OS, I just use the built-in Defender and common sense (as someone else also stated somewhere). I try to keep the gaming OS as lightweight as possible. Didn't even install Raptr after last weekend's crash.

I use an antivirus as a precautionary measure.

Sometimes people want shit from me, but there sticks are infected AF, Avast as helped in regards to keeping my system clean.

Turn off AutoPlay for everything in addition to AV.

Yeah Avast is not using much data on all my machines I run it on. Its also alot less memory hungry than AVG (they WERE good at one point, I promise!) or Avira I found (my 2 previous "go-to" AV's throughout my time with pc's)

AVG started giving way too many problems (false positives), years back, and stopped using it after that.

Had customer's PC by my shop running outdated versions of AVG. It is a bitch to uninstall completely.
