The Free Games List!!

Come on, lets get a list going of all the free games one can find on the internet. Oh yes, and before people start getting snarky, it's not a debate on piracy, but legitimate place one can download free, previously "need to pay" games. Now... because I have no interwebz (only the local ones) I can't do a little searching for myself. However, I do know that Red Alert was released for free some time ago (don't know if it's still available). Oh yes, and one more thing. Let's not bring abandonwarez into this either...

So... anyone have something to share?

There's supposedly a local content server when you set your location to Africa. It is hosted by IS. However I've been unable to get it to work.

oh ok cool well i'll take a look and see if i can try get it working because intl bandwidth can be quite expensive

NGame NGame.... it sounds so familiar. Is that like a space civ game or am I completely wrong? Can't remember.

The IS Steam server is for file download only as far as I can tell, so you'll probably only be able to make proper use of it with route sentry and a local account

Even then it doesn't seem to work. Or it didn't for the Orange Box games. I emailed IS a couple of months ago to hear what's going on and they said that the cache is too small on their server for the amount of games that there are. So the new popular ones tend to get cached.

Apparently they were or are upgrading the server. I've since stopped trying to download Steam games by using local bandwidth. Maybe it's better now. I will try again in the future.

Well, list updated...

Doom3 is free... was anounced about 2 years ago...

AFAIK... the engine is free, but the content is not. So you can make your own game with the Doom3 Engine (IDTech5 iirc) but you can't use their models/sounds...
