I don't know, I've put in more than 20 hours already into the game, mostly multiplayer, and I'm enjoying every moment so far. Played a couple of rounds with a bunch of other Saffers and we rekted the other team. Went 5-0 and each match I had a positive KD. The game is moerse fun, incredibly well done and just an all out brilliant experience. High ping or not. Its a pity you couldn't look pass the latency, but honestly I've never felt like it gave me a disadvantage en any game. And as long as I am having fun, I couldn't care less about high latency.
Obviously this is not ideal I know. I'm sure it would've been so much better with local servers and all that. My point is just that it is possible to still have fun with BF1 in SA.
I could literally write an entire essay on the subject but I won't
I played around 30 hours and for the most part it was...ok (Not gonna say fine, we're used to perfect latency in BF games). There were however moments of sheer frustration. Emptying a shotgun on an enemy only for him to kill you and then realize you did no damage to him because of packet loss or firing long distance at a sniper team and missing shots constantly when you know for a fact that was a hit, I even saw a mate of mine hitting a sniper, got a white hit marker but didn't do any damage to the guy. Yes it doesn't happen all the time but it's enough to drive someone like me insane.
I'm competitive when it comes to multiplayer fps, I can't help...It's just who I am. Another good example is running in on a horse and hitting a guy with the sword, he didn't see me..I hit him perfectly but it seemed like nothing happened. He even asked in chat what the hell just happened. Nothing registered but he was moved from his position.
The thing that pisses me off the most though is how EA decided to be greedy assholes and take away 3rd party server rentals. We're now forced to do it through them...except for the fact that it's not available yet? The game has been in development for years..did they decide 3 weeks ago "Mmm let's be fucks and host the servers ourselves". Game launches, no rsp in place so a lot of us are forced into playing with higher latency because EA and Dice have no official servers in place for us. Yet they sold us the game? Ignored questions about it (They're still ignoring it), and they just don't seem to give a damn about it. How is it fair to sell us a product at the highest price point across all regions but we get a sub par experience?
When you ask them questions over twitter they ignore it and carry on talking to all the fantrolls who love the game. Multiple people have tried talking to them, emailing them, creating lists on the forum and what do we get? Nothing. Let's not mention the insane performance issues with the game and certain Nvidia graphics cards, or how about the severe fps drops a lot of players are getting for no apparent reasons..They haven't gotten any response, there are tons of threads on the forum with NO acknowledgement from EA or Dice. They haven't even come out and said, we're looking into it.
At the end of the day I'm just really disappointed. Dice LA used to be good to the community, now we hear and see nothing.
They don't care about the PC community anymore. Even the RSP settings we've seen are identical to the console settings..lol
All the pc related questions haven't been answered at all, not even basic things like, which regions will have rsp support? Eh
I'm not shouting at you by the way

I'm just pissed about it.
I've learned over the years, that sometimes its better not to argue wth with certain ppl. They simple cant accept that they are or might be wrong. I've just said ok and left it at that.
I also agree with the way they handled the SA players, sure we arent a lot in darkest africa, but simply ignoring us with random kak answers, R900 might not make the slightest diffirence, but I wont buy the game. Wtf with putting Africa in the filter list there wont be servers for us? Anyway, I am over this whole BF thing.
Yeah it's unfortunate because I really do enjoy the game, but I'm not willing to support this EA/Dice rubbish (Referring to their new rsp and how their attitude towards pc gamers has changed)
