But everything is not 'blowing over' ..... it's getting worse by the week. More and more people get pissed off and come here less and less. I can imagine because I'm one of them! Like I said, what made me leave MyBB for the most part is growing strong here. By all means have opinionated articles, we're all entitled, but don't then go on a fucking rampage defending said article when people disagree with you.

You talking about Azimuth or Tinman?

I don't see it as such a big problem. Do you really think people are coming here less and less?

Whats wrong with a bit of argument on a forum?

We are here to discuss gaming, and this will often involve arguing over different view points.

Id really like to hear more on this. Anyone else agree with MH?

I love argument, trust me, I really do ...... but when said argument becomes bitter, as is evidenced by the replies in the relevant threads, then it's just detrimental. Why post in a thread where only one side has the right to carry on as they see fit because all those with opposing views get told to watch it, calm down, etc?

It's vitriol that kills forums ......

Agree to a certain extent with mh, take dixie for example when last was she on?

Who said to watch it/calm down?

People said she was being bias. I pointed out that her lack of an invested interest in the PC version makes her more objective than those who are upset by it, yet they call HER bias?

The people with the most vitriol are those condemning IW for the move, without really thinking about why the decision was made. Azimuth was pointing out some of these reasons, and few people took any notice. If anything, she is trying to shed light on the situation.

Do you agree with the general "Ill just Pirate MW2 now because it doesn't have what I want" sentiment? I see a problem with this way of think, and its routed in an unhealthy sense of entitlement that we have hear. This is what she is opposing.

I see your point about the tone, though. I do think that these articles could probably be more effective if they were less sarcastic/brusque.

I agree with him. I don't necessarily believe that people are coming here less and less, but I do believe that when an article turns into a flame war with its author (status and all that goes with it) starts acting self-righteous when, as Mephisto says, it's just an opinion, that it does scare people off. It's intimidating.

I remember, specifically with the piracy article - it's difficult to even bother writing up a response when you 1) have the admin and 2) the article's author posting their convictions in the thread. And please don't misunderstand me, I don't mean that in a nasty, spiteful, snappish way at all. I just mean that it feels intimidating - as though if you even bother writing up a response, you'll be shot down or end up in a confrontation with two people who have some significant say in the forum... It just feels like you're doomed from the start. I think that kind of thing is not only intimidating to me, but new would-be posters as well...

As a writer, Azimuth's posts are interesting to read and, more often than not, blissfully controversial. But it's difficult just commenting on what everyone else thinks, and what you think in a thread, when anyone whose opinion contradicts hers gets into a snot-nosed fight. I wish tehnihilist was here to give his opinion as well. He's another who feels the same way, and doesn't see the need to post when you can tell from a mile away that you're going to end up in a battle of egos and self-justification...

May...err...try not to take the contents of the argument as a personal affront?

The other thing that spoils forums is new people who are only here to spam their way to competition elligibility.

who do you think Fenix .......

Azimuth, but i didn't want to assume. I understand what ur beef with her is, me and her had a little incident last night. So i clearly see where ur coming from. But everybody gets so into the whole anti what she said thing they upturn the entire thread. Ok so we disagree with her, lets all move on with out lifes. Both she and some of the other guys take things too seriously and see every word posted as an attack on their person, of this she is especially guilty.
