Aion - General Discussion

Anyways - back on topic ... I'm not sure about the lowping services just yet - want to see how NCSoft reacts on the topic first. Or have they made a proper statement regarding that.

Playing behind a proxy in itself is not against the User Agreement and would not be a basis for ban.
source

The only reason some people get banned is because loads of gold sellers could be using that same proxy (so their actual IP's can't be traced).

Then sometimes in possibly an overkill move NC bans everyone from that proxy, then sifts through the accounts later and unban the legitimate people. It's a shoot first ask questions later strategy.

Everyone who's been affected by this gets their account back in a few days once they've sifted through the mass ban, and this only really happens if you're using free proxys. It's unlikely goldsellers would ever use the paid ones.

"During the fall harvest, from time immemorial, the people of Atreia have celebrated the bounty of the land. Years ago, the joy of the annual revels was troubled by an eclipse - a peculiar and magical eclipse that brought darkness to Asmodae and Elysea. Ever since, for days during Harvest Revel, the sky goes dark and the peoples of Atreia join the hunt.

Asmodians find soothing peace during the dark days of the Harvest Revel. They celebrated by racing after the Wild Kurthanir hunt leader during the Wild Hunt and cooking special traditional dishes.

Elyos endure the dark days because during them the dead of Elysea are restless. Undead creatures rise form the grave every few hours, pulled back into a semblance of life by the power of the eclipse. Elyos must join roving Dark Night bands to hunt and destroy the undead before they invade Elyos villages.

Log in each day during Harvest Revel. Celebrate with us and every day rewards your investment with new Aion lore and tasty treats.

Experience the exhilaration of the hunt, and log in and play during Harvest Revel.

If I recall correctly you only receive those items once and for one character only.

of a rare and much coveted Limited Collector’s Edition. Notable among these is an array of in-game items you can give to your characters.

To assign them to your characters, please follow these instructions.

NOTE: You will need to follow these steps for each new character you create in order for it to receive the items.

1. Log into NCsoft Account Management.
2. Click the Game Accounts link.
3. Choose your Aion game account listed on the Game Accounts page.
4. Click the Apply In-Game Items link in the Actions section.
5. Select the server your preferred character is on and click the Next button.
6. Select the character you wish to receive the items and click the Next button.
7. You will then see a list of all the items or item packs that may be applied to that character. Click the checkbox next to the item pack(s) you wish to apply to that character and then click the Next button.
8. Review the confirmation page and then click the Apply the Items/Item Packs to this Character button.

You will then get a message saying that the items/item packs were successfully given to that character. You should have these items when you log into the game – simply pay a visit to your in-game mail box.

I'm still going to pass on the CE, even though it's only 10EU.

You might have to wait a while before you have 1mill after 30, but by level 35 you'll be able to just buy them in game.

No ... well ... this is just the difference between the regular and collectors edition ... every game that does this will have a similar model.

Also, you have to understand that for the free-to-play MMO's out there - it's a vital cashflow - something needs to pay for support and hosting servers. There's a lot of cost involved.

So ... everything in Aion - once you have the game - is free. With one exception I've come across so far - you need to purchase a credit to change your character's appearance. I was a little disappointed by that - especially since you only get the option after level 10 - by which time you don't really feel like deleting and starting over simply to change appearance.

But that's it really.

As far as free to play MMO's go with no mico transactions Guild Wars 2 is looking to be rather epic.

Guess they'll adopt the expansion model again, but even then that's only seeing cash flow maybe once a year. Don't know how they do it.

Is it possible to copy the Aion directory as is possible with WoW?

If so, is there anyone in JHB (preferably Fourways) with the client I can leech from :p ?

:update (for those still wondering, copy without install)

yep, but you also have to copy the launcher if it is not present and that is either in the program files\ncsoft or program files x86\ncsoft depending on your os being 32 or 64.

1) run launcher and select aion's bin location <installation dir>\bin32\aion.bin
2) you can verify but you don't have to if it is allready updated to latest

Anyone put off by the hordes of bots and gold farmers? Doesn't seem that NCSoft is really doing anything about it.
