EA is interested in making an open-world game like Grand Theft Auto

Isn't Dragon Age Inquisition quite "open world" as well? I haven't played it yet, only bought and downloaded, but from what I understand it is quite open in a big game world...

No its not really it only gives the illusion of open world.

Well its EA anything they put out people will probably buy.

That's BioWare though, isnt it?
Well, Battlefield also isn't EA (assuming that's what they refer to by their dominance in the FPS market). The fact that DA:I and the new Mass Effect run on Frostbite cements the fact that Bioware is as EA as they get...

Come to think of it, EA don't really develop many games of their own. DICE, Bioware and the like are first-party developers for EA that don't have games released by other publishers.

Well yeah, that was my understanding of the article. As a PUBLISHER, sure they're released open-world games...but not as a developer (since all they develop these days is madden, fifa and sims)

They bought out Bioware.
As of February 2015, Electronic Arts' largest acquisition is the purchase of VG Holding Corp., the then-owner of video game developers Bioware and Pandemic Studios, for $775 million
