Planet Coaster

Yeah I was pretty surprised. I am really anticipating it. What was the download size?
Can't remember offhand, but don't think it was too bad. Game folder on my drive is under 9GB at the moment. There were a couple of 2-odd GB patches released for the Beta, and mention that the release version would contain some additional assets not in the Beta, so I'd guess release version size will be maybe 10-15GB. But that's a complete thumb suck.

What was the download size?
Release is live a good couple of hours earlier than expected on Steam now (allegedly, will only be able to check later tonight.) Notification post for dev says this about size:
For those looking for file sizes to the update, if you were on 0.9.6, the update is about 410MB. If you are just getting started, the game is about 5.3GB
I'm amazed they've managed to keep it so compressed. My extra 3GBs must be from the ton of stuff I've saved off of the Workshop I guess, but I'm going to do a clean reinstall anyway.

Cool thanks bud. Download has commenced, hopefully play a lot this weekend. :-D

Fok, I just want to go home and start playing.
LOL. Same. Am seriously tempted to try and install it on this old ThinkPad that I use for work, even on mega low settings, just to see if it'll run. Steam reviews are excellent so far:

While you're waiting... just had at least 10 laugh out loud moments watching this review of the competitor product:
Tried timestamping it to 11m37s when he gets interrupted by an "Influencer Incoming" message - his reaction is hysterical. "My Nan has more followers!"

This game looks good but DAMN is it expensive. It's even more than I paid for Dishonored 2

It's so damn good. But yes, welcome to Frontiers pricing structure. Still, I don't think R630 is that bad considering the current times and prices.

I sort of get what Metal is saying - when compared to some other sim-style builders and management/tycoon games, it is pretty pricey. I paid £20 (R350) for my early backer pledge, and thought it was a fantastically fair deal at the time. Post-release though, and having now spent 30+ hours with it (and still not actually having done anything productive!) I agree with Beo - the price, high as it may be in comparison to others in the genre, is well worth it IF you like these sort of games. It's one of those titles where, to my mind, the price is easily justified by the value and longevity of the entertainment it has, does, and will provide me in the future.

Based on FDs approach to the expansions and additions to Elite, I'm fully expecting a fairly steady stream of DLCs and Expansions and Extra Content Packs for Planet Coaster to begin rolling out soon enough :) To be perfectly honest, there's so much scope for additional theme and scenery sets, new rides and coasters, more mascots and shops, larger park areas, extra base biomes, etc. that I'd be hugely surprised if they didn't milk it as much as they can. And that's despite (or in addition to?) the over 13000 items already on the Workshop. Probably going to becoming a R1000+ game for me eventually cos I'm such a weak and gullible sucker for stuff like this :)

Was thinking about possible expansion and ideas yesterday as well, they could even branch out into a more "water theme parks" as well. Having water rides for people and supertubes, aquariums and the like. It all adds to the theme park appeal as a whole.

a part of my challenge mode setup, doing really well given a limited budget.

Looking good BeoTeK! Glad you're enjoying it. I had next to zero time this weekend, but will hopefully be able to get back to it tomorrow. Am keen to try some of the challenge scenarios. And actually start working on a sandbox park worth keeping.

Oh, quick edit to say mention this YT playlist that I'm sure you'll find interesting: https://youtu.be/uGoleExF4N8?list=PL8lvtTl5Xl5bsD9sHIA4KiPCkR2A75eqq He's is building an entire Elite: Dangerous inspired park.

That's fantastic, will give it a watch.

I'm really really loving this game and just can't get enough. Definitely a contender for GOTY in my opinion.

Would love to build in sandbox what some people do, I just lack creativity I guess. I'm even battling to place ATM's for goodness sake!

That is why I dont play these games! And I really wish I had that vision to build like that, cos I wanted to play it

But I'm really enjoying the Challenge mode. It gives you little objective and direction, so it starts to feed that creative mindset. So it could be a starting platform for ideas and thoughts before going into sandbox.

problem is I get frustrated with that kind of game to quickly. I mean even my houses in terraria and starboud are boring :P

Has Frontier come out to say what their plans are going forward; DLC, new content patches, more themed content etc?
