Upgrade advice and opinions.

I know I'm jumping around here but since I've decided I'm sticking with Nvidia, I would like to go for a 1060 card, now which are the best bang for buck 1060's around ? Are units like the GALAX good or should I rather go for MSI since I have a MSI mainboard? Budget is 5-6k.

I like the ASUS 1060 because of the RGB lighting but I know that's just what they want me to fall for!
I'm not big into OC'ing but is it a good idea to get a factory OC GPU? my current evga card is OC'd and i've found myself having to underclock my baseclock otherwise some games crash.

So I did it...

Too be honest, The Twin Frozr Fans are really incredible, they only turn on when needed and then they stay off most of the time, even when gaming. As soon as you turn up the fans you see instant temp drops, I got this card down to 27 degrees at idle running 60% fan speed.

Very good choice and I couldn't be happier.

Haha na it's chilled, also in the process of trying to optimise airflow. Unlike your 1060 my 290 is a mini oven.
 
I might be selling a MSI z270 M7 mobo if any1 is interested.
Either that, or my current mobo + CPU (asus maximus VIII Formula+ i7 6700K)
