My Review of Krispy Kreme.

Krispy-Kreme.jpg

They opened up in Eastgate. I'd heard about queues at the other ones that had opened. There really wasn't a queue at the Eastgate one when I went there.

Firstly: They do like like the picture I'll give them that. Sometimes burgers don't come out looking like their pictures in adverts do.

Secondly: The inside dough was light and fluffy but it had no flavour.

Thirdly: The doughnuts were sweet as sin. Way too sweet which might have shielded any dough flavour there might have been but I don't think so.

It was something to try, buy a few doughnuts and see how they taste. Overall I don't think I'll ever be buying another doughnut at Krispy Kreme ever again. Perhaps if you like lots of sugar it would appeal to you but I actually feel I've had better doughnuts from Spar.

Its an american thing, you will see the ones from Dunkin are the same, they are overly sweet, crappy dough unless you get it very very very fresh it tastes stale within a few hours.

The only thing I loved at the overseas Krispy Kreme was crullers - its a light and fluffy dough like the stuff they make eclairs from, aka choux pastry

Hi Wyv!

I would not have spelled choux like that at all had someone asked me before I read this :D
I never really thought about it.

Ek sien ons maaikie is verloof :)

I agree with you czc, it's crazy sweet.... but I quite like it. Have only tried it once however and will have to try it again.
Blazzok Who is engaged?

Janee sy het oor die naweek verloof geraak, al wat verassing was hoe vroeg dit gebeur het, soos daar vir my gese was sou dit eers einde Feb gebeur.
Solitude, its a mutual friend of ours and Hammer that got engaged over the weekend.

Derailing the thread a bit I guess, but oh well. Deal with it!

A mutual friend of ours got engaged this weekend (also Angela, incidentally). The wife and myself so knew it was coming, just based on the signs and the goings on, and yet our friend was oblivious! Really happy for her though.

Ek het geen idee gehad wanneer dit sou gebeur nie, tot Skapie vir my gese het Carlo het moerse klomp planne gemaak vir die naweek en alles. En ons weet hy het al ouers gevra. We just had a feeling.

Sien jy weet meer as ek, ons derail hier, ma ja, sy is nou in Carlo world en ek praat met haar sussie as met haar deesdae.

totally agree! even though they are baked fresh daily they still taste stale and dry to me. tried it once and will rather go to my local pnp for a nice jam donut!

I didn't find them half bad, to be honest. Bought them from Mall of Africa a couple of months ago. Together with a bitter coffee they went down very well.
