Favourite Movie of All Time

Solitude

Mr. Nice Guy
What is your favourite movie of all time? One that you've maybe watched multiple times and just can't get enough of. Or maybe a movie that you remember so fondly that other movies just don't compete.

For some of us this is an easy question, others will struggle to pick just one.

My favourite is American Beauty.

It's still as good when I watch it now as it was when I first watched it. Absolutely brilliant.

I'm not sure, but the first movie that came to mind when I saw the title was Watchmen, so I'll go with that.

Drive (Ryan Gosling) . Not going to post a trailer because the trailers make the movie look like something it is not.

If it's my personal best movie of all time then the answer is The Shawshank Redemption.

I rate these as the best films:

- La La Land
- Grand Budapest Hotel
- The Dark Knight
- Manchester by the Sea
- Inside Out
- Boyhood
- The Artist
- Inception
- Hot Fuzz
- LotR trilogy
- The King's Speech
- The Green Mile

Old films I've watched that I rate as the best:

- Shawshank Redemption
- The Godfather
- Citizen Kane

But disregarding how critically superb any film may be, these are the films I've enjoyed the most (in order):

- Grand Budapest Hotel
- Richie Rich (1994 comedy with Macaulay Culkin), my favourite movie as a child
- Hot Fuzz
- Inception
- The Matrix
- Jurassic Park
- Ocean's 11-13
- Kingsman: The Secret Service

So my favourite film of all time is The Grand Budapest Hotel.

THIS! SO MUCH THIS!

Since seeing it in the cinema years ago, I've rewatched it 3 times, which is very rare for me. I still get a yearning to watch it every year or so and sometimes I'll even indulge in that desire.

Hmmm, it's a difficult list to put together, but here goes nothing

  1. Pursuit of Happiness
  2. Gladiator
  3. The Shawshank Redemption
  4. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
  5. Star Wars IV: A New Hope
  6. Fight Club
  7. Love Actually
  8. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
  9. The Matrix
  10. Top Gun

Wow, I really think that's my Top 10 movies list of all time. But a lot of really good movies missing from there.

The Two Towers over Return of the King? Is that because of Helms Deep or something else?

2 Fight Club
3 Inception
4 The Matrix
5 Léon: The Professional
6 Saving Private Ryan

10 Top Gun

Admittedly, I have watched Top Gun more times than I care to admit.

Expanding to 20

11 - Memento
12 - Alien
13 - Reservoir Dogs
14 - Braveheart
15 - Requiem for a dream
16 - Trainspotting
17 - Full Metal Jacket

I think so yes. I honestly don't know why TT over RotK. Think that Two Towers had a much bigger impact om me than RotK when I watched it, and Helms Deep is by far the best fight in the three movies.
