Budget Asus gaming PCs for AMD and Nvidia fans

That AMD one is roughly my PC, Except for the gpu. R9 380x.
Mmmmm, so I have a budget gaming rig.......performance wise, it feels more like mid to upper level.

I would not call those "budget" for the price/specs. Additionally, if you are a fan of AMD (like me) you could wait for the R3/5 series to launch in Q2. I would not spend money on a FX-Series CPU.

Same Price as the "ASUS" PC's but cheaper and better specs.

Switched out the RX480 for a 3GB GTX1060 to save some R's

Even more buget orrientated, could save some more R's with no SSD and, switch to a Skylake Pentium. But I would stick with KabyLake since it has Hyper threading like the i3.

If you REEEALY want to have a gaming PC at a really tight budget

I saw your post two days ago and thought to myself "I need to challenge this FX series theory of yours". But after yesterday, I am looking for something better, myself. A friend of mine asked me, which of these two to get (in his budget):

https://www.evetech.co.za/PC-Hardware/amd-eight-core-gaming-upgrade-kit-v2-1756.aspx

AMD fan myself, I wanted to tell him to go AMD, but rather leaned towards the DDR4 option and told him to go there. The parts came yesterday and I put it together for him, installed everything. Then I ran some benchmarks, just to show him how good my PC is compared to his new one :D Man, was I surprised. That i5 with DDR4, won on all scores by almost 50% more than my AMD. WTF. :wtf:
I need to get a Ryzen, quick, must not be beaten by Intel.

The only reasonable CPU from the FX line was the FX-9590. It's a beast on power draw, with a 220W TDP which causes it to run hot.

Just remember at this point in time Intel is limited to DDR4-2400, where Ryzen can support up to 3000 or more.

Here's someone pushing 3700Mhz: https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=0a7fb66438f0c2f2eb17c8e1827e4d70&oe=596E3796

This of course is motherboard dependant but a B350 can push up to 3000Mhz on RAM speeds, which seems to boost overall performance. Ryzen is also going to see some jumps in performance when Microsoft finally fixes their problems with the threads.

I can't wait for the R5 1600(X) it's time to retire my first gen i5-760.
