Ever since we got my mom some Victorinox knifes that is all she wants to use and its understandable those things are amazeballs like cutting cheese and not worrying that you won't get an even cut or cutting tamatoes thin. Also it seems to holding its edge very well.

We also have some knife set of unknown make and we have to constantly sharpen it. So from now on its only buying knifes like Victorinox even though its a bit more expensive its well worth the money.

So what do you guys/girls use?

Just some R50 knife from hyper.

Have a honing steel and a sharpening stone from the hardware section.

In the kitchen, I am so fussy I take my Victorinox when visiting friends so that I can use my knives when i cook there. (Ask DieGrootHammer :P)

I have 6 of their pairing knives, the peeler as well. Next I am saving for the steak knifes. And then I want to spoil myself with this:

With the solid Victorinox cutlery block the knives are not only shown to their best advantage, but they are also always stored safely and ready-to-hand.

As it is, I cringe when I have to use lesser quality stuff.

One day. . . .

One day I want to own a set of Wusthof knives - some of the best in the world for chefs.

Hahaha my mom just asked she wants a wooden case for her 2 knives if we could make her one. So she also can take it with her.

I have had 3 of mine 4 years already - and at Cape Union Mart its R300 for 3!

There are ones for R65 (Paring) 8cm and the one a bit bigger is R95 (tamato/sausage) a bit cheaper than the set of 3.

Lol I wish in Pretoria everything is so expensive but my mom will get them in Kimberley where they are much cheaper.

To give you an idea 30 eggs are R65+- depending on day here.

Yes its 110% fade. Its my beauty :)

Mostly Victorinox for smaller knives.

Also some Arcos - similar quality but cheaper than Vic.

And a ceramic knife (kyocera) - don't think I'll get another. They're stupidly sharp but blunt too much given the price.

I've also got two sht Checkers Hyper chef's knives that I use when I need to cut something that I know will fk up the knife. (e.g. When cutting frozen chicken pieces)

Don't really sharpen knives - tried it before...it's near impossible to match the angle that was use by the factory & those slide through sharpeners are rubbish imo. So I just throw them out if they frustrate me.

I've got a big victorinox knife somewhere too, but never really use it. I guess the smaller knives do the trick & I've got lots of them so easy to grab a clean one for each task.

Last one I bought was this:

Everyone carrying on about Victorinox makes me want to buy some, granted I was exposed to them last year by my Girlfriend who also brought hers with when she visited.

I certainly need some new knives. Wish I had the cash to splurge on some decent ones.

Most the ones I have now are duller than I am!

Those slide through sharpeners will definitely fuck up your blade. It removes way too much steel and changes the angle.
