Mechanical KB Switches

Will lift for boobs!
If you do not have or have never used a mechanical Keyboard then you do not know what you are missing out on.
If you do have one, then you know what a pain it is to choose the correct switches for your style and preferences.

I used to always love MX Blue Switches or similar, meaning that they were loud and had a distinctive clicking sounds. They offer lots of resistance and you are 100% certain that you pressed a key.
But recently with my little one have trouble sleeping and my wife watching series, it got a bit annoying for them.
So I got a Mionix KB from Leetpro with Black Switches. At first it felt like I was sticking my finger into soft poo every time a pressed a Key... but the more I pressed, the more I seemed to like this feeling of pressing down on poo. Soft, squishy and gentle. The softer and "no click" keys are def my choice of keys at this stage being brown MX Keys.

What are your fav switches?

I started off with RED switches, still have.
Because this is the only one, and first one, im too afraid to test out others.

I got one of these (Blue switches) at home

I have no one to worry about keeping awake, so I'm not gonna switch (pun intended)

Lovely KB that indeed!! I absolutely love the click of the blues! But when you play a fps, and you strafe a lot, then I can hardly hear myself thinking =D

That doesn't bother me... I didn't get it for gaming really... I'm also considering painting a couple number keys, since if I have to hit a number higher than 5, I sometimes smack the wrong key since I have to use my left hand when gaming...

And the looks on peoples faces when they ask to use my PC... Bahaha

Was thinking the same. Must take quite some time to get used to!

When it comes to Cherry MX switches, browns are my favourite. However, on a trip to the States earlier this year I bought myself this beautiful beast:

Unicomp has the license from IBM to make Model M keyboards using buckling spring switches. It is the greatest keyboard I have ever owned.

I hardly look at my keyboards, so it wasn't too bad. The F and J keys have the typical notches... Sometimes I do look at the keyboard just to know where my fingers are though. B & N sometimes gives me some trouble too.

That is beautiful!! I'm jelly

I must admit, I've never been unsure whether I've pressed a key or not with my low profile membrane keys on my Razer Lycosa. I do a lot of typing and so the short action is handy and in terms of gaming I've never had a problem.

I guess one day if this keyboard ever breaks I'll have a look at a mechanical keyboard, or whatever is the next trend by then.

There is just a difference between membrane and Mech that I can't exactly put my finger on it... :P see what I did there.
But in all seriousness though, once you have had a mech KB you will never go back to a dome KB.
Think Mec is going to be a thing for quite a long time still.

These are my 2 KB i have.

I have the blackwidow Chroma (full, not sissy TE one, i need my numpad dammit). And I love it.
Also don't have that "oh lets not wake anyone up" issue that sufferers of STD's have :D

When I game and strafe alot i'm using my headphones anyway so I don't hear it, and while on day 1 my gf wasn't a fan of the clicky noises, she actually likes it now and wants to use my pc to type things if she has an option to :p

(yes i called babies STD's, its what they are :D)

My G710+ has Brown switches and it is the only mechanical switch I have used. I did a lot of research before settling on brown switches.

From multiple reviews it seemed that the low actuation force for Red keys, in combination with being non-tactile, results in accidental key presses, or sometimes double presses. I also didn't want a Linear switch, which both the Red and Black keys are.

I didn't want the noise from the Blue switches (watched some videos to hear the different sounds, and normal non-clicky keys already sounded noisy enough), but I did want a tactile switch.

That basically left me with the Brown switch as the only (common) option left. The same low actuator force as Red, but with tactile feedback so you know you pressed the key. :)

Well I am sure if you want you can plug in your Mech KB into your PS2 if you want and click away!

That wouldn't work as I've never owned a console.

I have an old G11. I'll get a mechanical keyboard when mine dies.

Ahhh I thought you were referencing the PC master race there, but was rather referring to the Mech Master race? =D
I would not go out of my way if I was happy with my normal dome KB. But if you are in the market for a new one, I would not go for anything other than a Mech
