Linking certain music to a game

Flex

Will lift for boobs!
Not sure if this only happens to me, but there are certain songs and even band that I listen to which immediately takes me back to a game I was playing. In some instances I can even remember exactly where in the game I was.

A few examples are:

System of a Down (Older Stuff)- Playing my Troll Shaman exploring Strangle Thorn Vale on Twilights Hammer server
System of a Down(newer) /serj tankian- Counter Strike Surfing. This is what I used to do 24/7. SURF! I still remember how a random guy tried to teach me on an empty server. He used his knife to carve illustration to help explain.
Chevelle- Exploring Azshara on Tatooine Local WoW Server

I used to play certain albums when playing certain games, which has led my brain to make that assocation jump and instantly remember those times whenever a specific song comes on.

New Found Glory - CS 1.5 vs bots
Brand New (1st and 2nd album) - Dota vs bots
Nofx: Punk in Drublic/White trash - King's Bounty

(did not have internet for a LONG time at home, so online wasnt an option hehe)

good times :D

That and I'm old. I mean my brother came back from varsity with this "counterstrike" game that was a half life mod (I had gotten half-life 1 for my birthday and LOVED it). I still had to the setup files to patch from 1.1 - 1.3, 1.3 - 1.4 and 1.4 - 1.5. then a diff install for the bots (POD-BOT ftw!).
Dota was fortunately easier, with just getting the bot map. ( like 6.73+AI or something).

We've only had internet at home for the last 5-6 years or so...I had to rely on dvd's and such to get my gaming and series fix. and yet now I have fibre :D

Sorry for the derail.
I gotta say NFS Underground 2 and Most Wanted definitely gave me some bands I hadn't heard of at the time (mostly due to the no internet thing hehe), like Lost Prophets and Bullet for my Valentine. So when those specific songs play I immediately think of racing :D

If you don't know that song off by heart, you didn't play NFS U2 properly :D

Now I feel very bad for not calling you oom!
Skies oom

Super Monaco (on Sega Megadrive) will forever be linked to Boyzone for me. Odd connection? The reason is my sister had got the CD and played it none stop on the hi-fi in the lounge while I was busy playing TV games (Super Monaco in particular)

Dance with the Devil from Breaking Benjamin will forever be associated with Left4Dead for me (shameless plug of my own version of this remixed video that everyone on YouTube did at one stage):

Wahahaha! Definitely one of the more stranger ones I have heard of!

Oh and Road Rash was my introduction into the world of awesome music. I would actually (at 11, 12 years old) go to Music stores (if we were on holiday in Cape Town or PE and went to malls) and ask them for Hammerbox cd. Never once did I meet a music store salesperson who'd heard of them, or one that didn't try and sell me Matchbox 20... tsk tsk

Hammerbox and Soundgarden....and thus began my music/gaming experience :)

Wow that game was flippen epic!!!!!! Good memories

Whenever I listen to this song, Tara Shakti Mantra from Era & Oliver Shanti (yes, I actually do listen to stuff like this), I cannot help but get the biggest urge to play Skyrim. It's just the perfect tie-in song for Skyrim I've ever listened to.

Then like Beo says, any music that is part of the game's OST will always be linked to that game for me.
