For X Box Console owners . . .

When Microsoft announced Xbox Game Pass earlier this year, our first question was “will it be available in South Africa?”. Unfortunately, as Gearburn exclusively confirmed at the time, the answer was no.

Fortunately, at its Gamescom 2017 event, Microsoft revealed that the service would be expanding to eight new markets from 1 September. These are Argentina, Brazil, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Turkey,UAE and yes, South Africa.

“Fans in our new markets can start their 14-day free trial from September 1, and enjoy over 100 great games,” the company added.

So what’s the monthly price for South Africa?

“Enjoy unlimited access to over one hundred great Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles for only R159 per month, including fan-favourites like Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16, and LEGO Batman,” read an excerpt from the local Game Pass website.

The firm also announced seven new titles set to hit the service, in the form of Recore Definitive Edition, Metro Last Light Redux, Fable 2, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, 10 Second Ninja X, Hue and The Bridge.

Very excited for this. It's another expense, but you get so many games to choose from. Between this and the free games with gold, you cannot complain about not having anything to play on console. Plus there are some awesome titles I'd love to play.

Yeah, I cancelled EA Access a month or so back for this.

But if you keep EA access, and get both Game Pass and Gold, you have a metric tonne of games to play for something like R450 per month. That's the same investment of like buying one game every month. This total package is really intruging and adds a lot of value to the Xbox platform.

I got a year subscription to EA Access for R299, it works out to close to half price going that route.

I was hoping that the subscription would carry through to Origin Access on PC, but apparently you have to subscribe to that seperately
