Streaming and Creating videos

Flex

Will lift for boobs!
So a friend and myself want to start making videos and/or streaming.

Which is the easiest to do, to record footage, edit it and upload or just straight up streaming?
If you guys edit Videos, what do you use to edit and record as well.

And then for streaming, Youtube or Twitch? I have always bee a huge fan of Twitch for watching games.

Any advice would be appreciated

I'm guessing straight up streaming would be easier (if you've got the bandwidth.)

Depends on how edited you want your content to be I guess.

You should check out obs for streaming and even just for recording too.

I would say that streaming is the way to go for you. And start off with Twitch streaming, but look at services like Restream. It lets you stream to both Twitch and YouTube at the same time

I would rather wait until you have a clear understanding as to why and what you want to edit your videos to. If you just want some highlights from the stream, well that's fine. Just know there are millions of streamers that does that exact thing. Rather think about cutting videos to a way that would make them unique. Stand out from just a regular highlights video. Unless you and your friend are hilariously funny, straight up highlights won't cut it.

Start off small, get into the rhythm of streaming and uploading the stream for later watching, maybe edit the stream to cut out dead air. Build a following, being in your edited videos and see the fan roll into. Quit your job, become a millionaire streamer/youtuber. Buy DieGrootHammer n KFC meal to say thank you for the advice that lead to your wealth.

Best advice ever!!

Have to agree with the above two recommendations. Start with streaming if you've got the bandwidth.

Speaking from experience – editing video takes loooong.

Which reminds, me, I really need to make time for a stream one weekend.

What connection would be the best for streaming do you guys reckon?

(Bit rate per second of all combined video streams and the audio stream) x (Number of formats you are broadcasting in) x 2 = Required Upload Speed

Ball park figure that, but here is another ballpark for you:

500 Kbps – lowest required speed for streaming
1.5 Mbps – recommended speed for quality viewing
3 Mbps – Standard Definition video
5-8 Mbps – 720p and 1080p High Definition
25 Mbps – 4K Ultra High Definition

All of this is UP STREAM, not down stream speed. It's all about the up stream speed. Add in 60fps over 30fps, and you can effectively double the requirements as per above.

Or so I've heard.

So my 10/5 should be fine i reckon for normal streaming. I switch between 10/5 and 20/10 depending on what I need for that month

That sounds like enough yes. 720p stream should do you good. I would also do a few test streams if I were you. Get some people just to check the quality of streaming something fast paced. But with that line you should be fine for streaming.

Who lets you switch on the fly like that? I have to give 30 days notice, and it always messes up the billing. *

* I've tried this once, and am still trying to sort out the invoices :p

ISP Afrika, they are pretty amazing. Even get charged Pro Rata if not done at the start of the month

Nvidia shadow play and Vegas pro for uploading/editing.
Nvidia shadow play and twitch for streaming.

if no nvidia card, then OBS is your best bet as you can record and stream same time.

If i was within the time zones numbers come on twitch, I would rather stream. Streaming doesnt require editing (But requires for you to be mindful when 4chan comes and tries to get you to do things.) which editing will take almost 3 times the amount of time it took to record the footage.

Did not know you can Stream using Shadow Play! Thanks for the tips

Yeah I don't use it personally (don't stream), since Nvidia is flipping good at screen capturing. So you might stream your desktop or browser, so basically don't do any personal things (facebook, internet banking, stream sniping,etc..)
Also really love the hotkey that comes with shadow play, notice you can kick it on at any point.
Another note about shadow play, if you play overwatch, if you bring the overlay while ingame. Overwatch all of a sudden disables all UI functions.

PUBG has a function where you can Auto record Highlights with Shadow Play. Flippen amazing !
