[MyGame] Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I still have a month to go.

Been spending very little time playing this game. :o

Edit: Playing using a controller, so a full-stealth approach is what I'm doing - given that I'm playing it on a Hard difficulty.

Managed to scrape some time together to relax a little, so went straight into playing.

I heard the boss fights where pretty bad... bad in that the Boss'es don't know how to fight!

Guess I was lucky?

Perhaps the clunky cover and moving mechanics that are most of the problems, running feels so slow compared to walking. Otherwise I made it to Hengsha! I really need to get more inventory slots

Second boss down!

Seriously, either my game is broken or I am really lucky with these boss fights. The game is kinda broken

So... Love the game, sadly the boss fights leave a lot to be desired. You can stealth your way through entire levels and, then have to pump 100's of shots into one person? It's somewhat contradictory.

Final Boss down! Sadly he was not as buggy as his colleges.

Tough choice to make. I could lie, tell the truth, or keep it all a secret at the bottom of the ocean.

The game itself is really great, I wish I had played it years ago when I bought it. I would always get through the first mission and then somewhat give up. This time, I am glad I kept going. It is slow in the beginning, and you don't have many combat/stealth choices initially but it comes together as you play.

Choosing the correct, augments became a bit of a gamble. I found myself choosing a few then realizing that I could do things differently, causing me to re-load a much earlier save and trying something else, yet I would still run into problems later on, no matter what augment I chose. It's also a bit strange that boss fights never really made use of Augments either. You could just modify a weapon to it's maximum and then just haul around ammo until the fight.

The inventory system, is a throwback to the original game. It forces you to chose your load outs carefully, but also annoying in that ammo does not stack, neither did grenades. Many times I'd throw out weapons and ammo, only to find they would have been ideal for the situation I was in.

I disliked the forced boss fights though, wile I can imagine on higher difficulties they must incite immense amounts of anger, specially with them being bullet sponges. Which brings me to ammunition! It was fairly scare in some points, perhaps it was a method to push a more stealthy approach. Either way, running past enemies sometimes seemed like a easier option.

Finally, Deus Ex Human Revolutions story is good, I felt that some things where not fully explored and just left to for the sake of progression, or because it would create more questions than answers. Perhaps It was the limits of the game at the time, and I am being over critical. Studying literature does that to you.

Sometime in the future I'll do a NG+ and see how different it plays with 90% of the Augments.

8/10 a great first person stealth shooter

Interesting post credits scene too!
Spoiler: show
It closes up a bit of a plot hole from the original Deus EX game from 2000;
"Bob" is actually the main protagonist from the first title. Since Human Revolution is set in 2027 it serves a prequel to the first two game in the series.

Okay, so seeing as a bunch of people have finished the game, I'd like to just add my opinions about the ending.

SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY

Spoiler: show
So, you are given 3 different ending choices by Eliza, each one a different way in which you can change the message as to what happened at Pangea. Each one will make one faction look good, and blame the whole debacle on someone/something else. Problem is, I couldn't resonate with any of those endings at all. All three of those were endings I didn't want to happen. I ended up just blowing up the facility.

Also, if you played Mankind Divided, this is the only real ending that makes sense in the continuity of the story. MD only refers to "the incident" with no real detail other than augs went beserk, killed a bunch of people, and then suddenly stopped and couldn't remember anything. Adam Jensen also was lost for 2 years, taken to a remote facility to recover after what happened at Pangea. The entire story of MD assumes that the world knows that Pangea happened, but are unaware of the detail. This is because, well, the writers had to make it as ambiguous as possible to allow for all endings from HR, but ultimately ended up only validating one ending.

For that reason, my theory is there is only one ending. The true ending to Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the one where you blow up the facility.

So that means I chose wisely!

Also, double posting, I know, but Glordit those are some high quality gifs dude. Well done! I have absolutely no idea how the hell you did that.

Whats your thought on the extra bit of dialogue after the credits?

I'll add it in spoiler tags as well just to be safe

Spoiler: show
I love the fact that, after the scene ends, the OG Deus Ex theme plays. This is absolute to ensure you make the connection with what happened in OG Deus Ex. HR was, after all, scheduled to be the one and only prequal. So I assume the writers thought they'd add it in as a bit of an ominous foreshadowing of Deus Ex.

What that dialogue does mean, I think, is that Megan's research helped pave the way for augments to become smaller, more susceptible to human use, and safer. And that would be super helpful for a billionaire like Bob Page, with his secret agenda of creating the singularity. That is his ultimate goal. For this to work, he needs a plague that he can control, alongside with the treatment, effectvely taking hostage of the world as he prepares for total domination. With that in mind, he needs Megan's research for his plan. This means that Megan is probably responsible for the design and spread of the plague, probably through the use of augments.

I loved that bit!!

It's easy to do but also a bit of a process.

I use Shadowplay to record my gameplay (AMD Users can use OBS/VCE), then cut it into clips with Handbrake.
The tricky part comes in with hosting it as a mp4 somewhere so you can use Imgur to create a 'GIFV' so, I upload it to mixtape.moe and then use the provided link to create a "video to GIFV" on Imgur.

Ah, I go straight to playstv (shadowplay is terrible for me), and from playstv get the link straight to imgur vid2gifv :p

Shadowplay is not without it's annoying bugs, which seem to come and go with every update. 5/10 times when I hit record in some games, I won't get a notification. Additionally, it will freeze the screen and show the desktop which can be a major annoyance with online based games.

PlaysTV looks like a great alternative.

I finished the game last Sunday evening, and didn't get a chance to post about it during the week. Here's my augmentation config at the end:

Something I've really grown to appreciate more in games like Deus Ex is environmental / atmospheric storytelling. While the game does beat you over the head with exposition a bit, whether in dialogue or through books, e-mails, and PDAs, the devs also embedded more subtle story elements into the level design.

Like the fact that Jensen has a hobby and is/was a smoker. His broken mirror and the e-mail trail around it is also a beautiful bit of "optional narrative".

(Mild DLC spoiler) An example from the DLC / Director's Cut which I found cool was Netanya Keitner's office. It shows that she is Israeli-army trained and has two pictures on her desk: one of a young woman with a beautiful landscape in the background, and the other of a hospitalised young boy in a Tai Yong Medical facility.

South Africa also gets a mention in the DLC. Apparently Cape Town has become quite dangerous :D. Makes me want a DLC set there!

Last bit of atmospheric storytelling I took screenshots of was in the last section of the game. An un-augmented person is lying covered in blood behind some barrels with a heavy rifle and some ammo nearby. A veritable army of augs is lying dead outside the room in which he had fortified himself. How did he end up dying? Did an aug manage to hit him with something at range with their dying breath? A speculation game-within-a-game if you're one of the people who looks out for such things.

Regarding the ending: being a journalist, I naturally

picked telling everyone the truth (as per Darrow's confession). Although people have proven to rarely make the right collective decision, even with all the information at their disposal, I wanted to give as many people as possible the facts of the matter.

Of course, there is always the risk that Picus will corrupt the message, but Eliza seemed to genuinely want to help all through the game.

I have something in the region of 2 weeks to finish this game. I'm literally still at the 2nd mission (after the Prologue).
I don't think I will finish this in time.

I have also made the decision to only play games that are no more than 10-15 hours to complete.
