Well, it would depend where you choose to live. There are some places where rental is R3,000 for a large 3-bedroom house. Then there are places where I live where you fork out R4,000 for a 2-bedroom apartment, but it's right across from a mall, has top-notch security and an awesome view.

Oh, and I get to bitch at the body corporate each time someone pisses me off and they get fined if I have proof ;)
 
all the ones i ended up viewing were on gumtree. the other sites and agents just weren't as good or extensive.

re size/rental: a friend (with quotes :p) moved up to jhb a few months ago, and i helped him find a place. he has a little cottage-y place in a complex. it's smaller than mine, for the same rent. and i'm a whole 30 seconds away from the beach. :D

EDIT: and mine is fully furnished too; so it'd be much less unfurnished.
 
MH when they say the wind blows like hell in the cape they mean it :eek:. Durban gales have nothing on the south easter here. My roof lost 2 tiles and the neighbours wall blew down the other day. I was nearly blown off the harbour wall into the sea ffs :o
