Threadkiller Mk. XIV

I wish I can be more busy but have tons of work. And this afternoon I won't be here at all.

Totally get that. Work is also keeping me from posting too often. It is difficult, but at least we are trying, and as long as we are here, we will not let this community die just yet.

That first and 6th TK, holy shit!

I think I started posting regularly around TK9 or so, and even then it was difficult to read all of the posts in TK. I often skipped most, or quickly browsed them to keep up.

17 is definitely low, but if you look at the TK posts per day trend, you can see how the forum is losing members who post regularly (ie dying).

Here you go Blazzy, some more stats for you. The raw data of the graph:

Oooh data noms! Might actually have been TK8, I remember czc killing a TK.

I also couldn't see shit when I opened that pic on Tapatalk, which is strange. Looked like a blocky mess.

Morning everyone.

Yeah even BeoTeK is posting less.

Sorry, have a lot on my plate lately. Between life, work, relationship and Cape Town planning. It's a lot of stress and worries and prioritizing.

Oh yeah, congrats on the engagement. A little birdie told me on Discord.

Hmm, My router at home died, of that I am sure. And the internet at work is on and off today.

My router at home died, of that I am sure.
For my internetlessness, I need to find a cure.
So I send it for repair
But to my despair
The bill showed me that I am too poor.

The only two routers brands I find that rarely give any shit : Billion and Cisco

Billion BiPAC 7800DxL is a beast of a home router BTW

Never heard of them before. Great feature list (if you have a need for all that), but a quick look at their download section, latest firmware I found was 2012. (hopefully for their sake I just didn't look in the right spot) The more features a firewall/router has, the more vulnerabilities will be found.

True, very true. As models get deprecated they stop releasing firmware. However they do release firmware at least once a year for all current models. However the Billion is tough as nails, I've had one sitting in a warehouse for 8 years without even flinching.

Sadly they're expensive, but for good reason. The built in firewall is very good and LAN transfer at full Gigabit speeds.

The Cisco 800 series ISR is even better, but at ~R7+k for a router without WiFi it's not really aimed at the home user.

So, my HDD is fine. I tested it in an external enclosure and both partitions picked up in my desktop PC. Upon further investigation, the one fan’s bearings are at fault. And the warranty expired 2 months ago. And it’s soldered to the mobo (being a laptop and all).

So I had to rush out to buy a new machine today. Against all that is good and holy I could only settle for EveTech. I had to find a place within driving distance, with stock and decent pricing on a fairly high spec machine. So I ended up with an Asus ROG GL502MV with 16GB RAM and an extra 255GB SSD.
