Even with steam on your pc, like in my case, the installation is long :D

It is 11 Gigs after all.

Cool dude, you will get the hang of it in no time.

Well you see a lot of people are letting IW find games for them, hence they end up in say Germany playing against Hans and his buddys and getting their asses whipped :D

You have seen what it is like playing with locals and its lekker. ;)

once i have finished sp (that is once i get the game installed ofcourse), then i'll try my hand at MP

....as i read on mybb some guy is playing with a 3g connection, so if he can so can i (if connection doesn't keeps dropping)
 
I think this will be the first time Tinman can take quotes out of all these threads and write one big review for MW2 :p :D and still have time to play while he writes :rolleyes:
 
as far as I know only Public matches are ranked, not private, so I dunno really.

Will be able to tell you after tonight, after a detailed hands on.

Hmm my nat is set to 'open', or something like that if I remember correctly. Maybe I need to change this in order to be able to simply join friends games. If anyone knows any more about this please pm me.

No no no, you always want your NAT set to open. If anyone has a strict or moderate NAT, they should definitely look into changing this (it's usually a simple reconfig on your router). Anyone with a moderate or strict NAT can cause a lot of connection problems in games, including preventing other players from joining.

Oi mine is set to strict :eek:

I didn't have to much problem connecting though. I did look on my router but didn't see any option to 'open' NAT. :confused:


let me google it.
 
IN general, with all online games, you will have a better experience connecting and being connected to, if your NAT resembles the legs of a Hillbrow lady of the Night.

As wide open as possible.

I don't know the Telkom (marconi) routers that well. I work with Billion.

But what you can try do is the following.

Check your COmputers DNS (if you are on DHCP) by clicking start, go to run, type CMD and Enter.

IN the command prompt type "ipconfig /all"

Grab your dns from there.

take that number default on them being 10.0.0.2 (I think)

Put that into your internet explorer to open the frontend.
Type your username and password, default being admin for both, or admin and password.

Once open you will see a tab called advanced. Open that up and you will have application. Within application you have Port Forward. Click on custom or user, then click new or add.

Rule name you can name anything like MW2
Protocol, you can select either TCP, UDP or BOTH
Port start, Port map and Port end, are all the port numbers to be opened on each one. you need to open ports for the following, for the best communication.

UDP: 1500, 3005, 3101, 28960 and TCP: 27015
 
Check out www.portforward.com for details on configuring your particular router.

The ports you want to forward are:

UDP 1500 (outbound)
UDP 3005 (outbound)
UDP 3101 (outbound)
UDP 28960

(And generally for Steam)

UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive
TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive

Ah ok ok....Port forwarding I know how to do, did it for my Xbox....Wasn't sure what they were meaning with NAT.
