The Bargain thread

Are these Steam deals going to become a trend over here now? It's very limited in how who can actually make use of these deals. At least here in S.A. :/

But we are now able to download games from Steam without using any of our cap if you are part of the WebAfrica freezone.

Grand Theft Auto IV - $7.49

BioShock - $4.99

if you stay in the US :/

You'll get these options if you go to http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=US but when it comes to paying, it tells you
"Your billing address doesn’t look like it matches up with your current country. Please contact support for assistance or use a payment method registered to your current address."

Does anyone know a workaround for this?

yes, someone in the US ?. they take cards so unless your actual billing address is in the US + US CC you are out of luck :(

"You've received a gift copy of the game Grand Theft Auto IV (US/AU) on Steam"
"You've received a gift copy of the game Bioshock (NA) on Steam"

I managed to get someone in the US to buy them as gifts for me; I just transferred the money to them via PayPal.

lol awesome- i wonder if they will be on the WA content server :)

damn, you make a really good point there :)

I'm not too clued up on content servers but I'm guessing providers automatically cache the entire catalogue (limited to the capacity of their hdd) whilst using a FIFO (first in first out) caching policy. ie: if I try download a new steam game, it may not be on the local steam server but the local steam server will then fetch it and push the oldest item off their cache. This would only be the case if the server's hdd is smaller than the size of the steam catalogue.

again, I'm hoping this is the case :) would hate to have to use my precious intl b/w to download these games.

I suppose, but its a bummer that the specials are over. Cant believe I was such an idiot to not take advantage of it. Oh well, too late now:mad:

PS3 compatible controllers on Kalahari for about R59 I think...was a no contest for me...R700 VS. R59? Really now....oh and it works.
